Bryn Renata vs Hanu Poihipi

Boxing Daily Report from the Simasiku Promotions promoted show at Manukau Sligh, Manukau,  taking place on 15/01/2033:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the New Zealand Cruiserweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Prime, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Bryn Renata (7 - 4(1) - 1) who hails from Christchurch, New Zealand and Hanu Poihipi(14(3) - 0) from Auckland, New Zealand.  Renata weighed in at 200 pounds and 7 ounces, while Poihipi weighed in at 199 pounds and 2 ounces.    As Renata came in over the weight limit, only his opponent will be able to compete for the final eliminator position tonight.  
The referee tonight is Chris Booth, and the three ringside judges are Robert Smillie, Clinton Martie and Harvey Dorch.  

Round 1: 

Poihipi pivots to the left of his opponent.  Poihipi lands a left hook to the head, a right hook to the head and a left hook to the body.  Poihipi clinches his opponent.  The ref separates the two fighters.  
Poihipi lands a left uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Poihipi gets on the inside and lands a left uppercut to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  He then lands two left hooks to the body, and one to the head.  
Renata steps to the outside and throws a jab, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a solid cross.  
Poihipi closes the distance and throws a left hook, but his opponent avoids the punch.  Poihipi clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Poihipi pushes his forearm into Renata's face.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Poihipi to stop fouling.  
Poihipi digs in a left uppercut to his opponents body.  Poihipi clinches his opponent.  Poihipi leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Poihipi drives a left uppercut into Renata's body.  
Poihipi closes the distance and lands a right hook to the body followed by a left uppercut to the head.

Poihipi closes the distance and manouvers Renata onto the ropes.  Poihipi is on target with a right hook to Renata's body.  
Poihipi lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  
Poihipi steps inside and digs in a left hook to Renata's body.  
Poihipi drives a firm right uppercut into his opponents ribs.  
Poihipi manages to force Renata into the corner.  Poihipi throws a left uppercut, but his opponent parries the shot.  Poihipi holds on to his opponent.  Poihipi leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.

At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Renata's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.  Renata's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  Renata's trainer is advising how he could stop so many clean shots getting through.

Renata is looking to keep the action on the outside and throws an uppercut to the body, but lands well below the belt!  The ref ignores Poihipi's complaints and signals for the action to continue.  
Poihipi gets on the inside and connects with a firm left hook.  Poihipi holds on to his opponent.  Poihipi is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Poihipi forces Renata to retreat onto the ropes.  Poihipi connects with a left hook.  
Poihipi drives a left hook into his opponents liver.  
Poihipi finds the target with a stinging jab.  
Poihipi pivots to the left of his opponent and is on target with a left uppercut to Renata's liver.  
Poihipi gets on the inside.  Poihipi sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a left uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  
Poihipi lands a left uppercut to the head followed by a left hook to the body, KNOCKING RENATA DOWN!  He manages to get up at 4.  
Poihipi is really starting to turn up the heat!  He senses a stoppage here.  Poihipi whips in a hurtful right uppercut to Renata's ribcage.  DOWN GOES RENATA!  He beats the count, getting up at 8.  Renata now seems to have his senses back.

Renata switches the action to the outside.  Poihipi feints a jab, and then is on target with an overhand right.  
At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...Renata's trainer is advising how he could be more accurate.
