Joel Thrift vs James Hailes

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Jamaica-Saint Andrew promoted show at David Hannay Gym, New Kingston,  taking place on 27/03/2033:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Jamaica-Saint Andrew Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Joel Thrift (4 - 11(4) - 2) who hails from New Kingston, Jamaica and James Hailes(6(3) - 0) from New Kingston, Jamaica.  Thrift weighed in at 134 pounds And 2 ounces, while Hailes weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is John Nichol, and the three ringside judges are Sam Richie, John Nichol and Kyle Burnside.  

Round 1: 

Hailes steps inside and lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Hailes lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  Hailes attempts to land a right hook, but Thrift sidesteps and counters with a right hook.  
Hailes pivots from in front of his opponent and lands a left hook.  
Hailes tries to keep the action at long range and tries to land a jab, but Thrift dodges the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Hailes advances into close range and drives a right hook into his opponents body.  
Hailes walks Thrift onto the ropes.  Hailes lands a double right hook to his opponents head.

Thrift steps away from his opponent.  Hailes hits home with an overhand right.

Hailes throws a left hook, but his opponent sidesteps.  Hailes ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Hailes pushes his forearm into Thrift's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Hailes about fouling.  
Thrift gets on the inside.  Hailes pivots to the right of his opponent.  Hailes hits home with a right hook.  Hailes clinches his opponent.  Thrift throws a hook within the clinch but hits his opponent behind the head. 
Hailes lands a double right hook to his opponents head.  
Hailes is looking to close the distance and walks Thrift onto the ropes.  Hailes pivots to the side of his opponent.  Hailes lands a right hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  Hailes holds on to his opponent.  Hailes is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Hailes to stop fouling.  
Thrift hits home with a left hook.  Thrift tries to land a left hook, but Hailes sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut.  
Thrift digs in a right hook to his opponents ribcage.  
Thrift switches the action to the outside.  Hailes hits home with a cross.  
Hailes gets on the inside and manouvers his opponent into the corner.  Hailes digs in a right hook to his opponents body.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Thrift's trainer is telling his fighter to increase his workrate.  Thrift's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

Hailes steps to the outside.  Hailes feints a right hook, and then lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  Thrift recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Hailes advances into close range.  Hailes pivots from in front of his opponent and lands a right hook.  
Hailes manouvers Thrift into a corner.  Hailes pivots to the right of his opponent and lands a stinging right hook.  
Hailes lands a right uppercut to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  
Hailes quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands a right hook.  
Thrift attempts to land a right hook, but Hailes sidesteps and counters with a right hook.  
Hailes lands a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  Thrift recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Hailes forces Thrift to back into the ropes.  Hailes connects with a stinging left uppercut.  
Hailes steps to the outside and lands a firm overhand right.  
Hailes is on target with a jab.  
Hailes closes the distance.  Hailes pivots to the right of his opponent and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Hailes is on target with a solid left hook.  
Hailes steps away from his opponent and lands a spiteful jab.  
Hailes lands a firm cross.  
Hailes sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a double jab to his opponents head.  He then lands two jabs followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  
Hailes steps inside.  Hailes is looking to put the pressure on now...he knows a few clean shots could mean an early night.  Hailes lands a right hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.  He follows up the attack and lands two consecutive right uppercuts to his opponents head, AND KNOCKS THRIFT DOWN!  He is unable to get up before the count reaches 10!  The winner by KO is Hailes!
