Marjun Valdes vs Arran Groves

Boxing Daily Report from the Hands Promotions promoted show at County Coliseum, El Paso,  taking place on 19/11/2033:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Marjun Valdes (17(5) - 5 - 1) who hails from Leon, Nicaragua and Arran Groves(17 - 9 - 2) from Mobile, USA.  Both Valdes and Groves weighed in at 130 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Mark Evans, and the three ringside judges are Floyd Celestino, Faisal Rasul and Daniel Canas.  

Round 1: 

Valdes lands a cross followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  Valdes attempts to land a cross, but Groves parries the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Valdes is on target with a cross.  
Valdes contemptuously drops his hands, trying to provoke his opponent.  Groves throws a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a stinging left uppercut.  
Valdes lands a left hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.  He follows up the attack and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  
Valdes hits home with a firm right hook.  Groves wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Valdes dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Groves pivots to the side of his opponent.  Valdes connects with a firm cross.  
Valdes advances into close range and lands a right uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  He follows up the attack and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  Valdes holds on to his opponent.  Valdes is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Valdes.  
Valdes drives a powerful right hook into his opponents body.  IT LOOKS LIKE GROVES WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  Valdes ties up his opponent.  Valdes is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref breaks Valdes's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  Groves recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Valdes drives a firm left hook into his opponents liver.  
Valdes manouvers his opponent onto the ropes.  Valdes is on target with a right hook.  
Valdes is looking to close the distance and connects with a solid right hook.  
Valdes lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  Valdes clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Groves pushes his forearm into Valdes's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Groves about fouling.  
Valdes walks his opponent into the corner.  Valdes lands a firm right uppercut.  
Groves attempts to land a right hook, but Valdes slips the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Valdes quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Groves throws a right hook, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Valdes lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  Groves almost instantly gets his legs back. 
Groves tries to keep the action at long range.  Valdes lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Valdes steps inside and connects with a left hook.  
Valdes lands a left hook.  
Groves switches the action to the outside.  Valdes lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Valdes digs in a left uppercut to his opponents ribs.  
Valdes lands a right hook to the head followed by a left uppercut to the body.  
Valdes manouvers his opponent into a corner.  Valdes lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  He continues the combination and lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Groves's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Groves's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  Groves's trainer is advising how he could stop so many clean shots getting through.
