Jack Wathen vs Durand Gilis

Boxing Daily Report from the Mr. Vicious promoted show at Yankee Stadium, New York City,  taking place on 16/09/2034:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on HBO, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Jack Wathen (22(20) - 0) who hails from Wellington, New Zealand and Durand Gilis(22 - 19(11) - 1) from The Hague, Netherlands.  Wathen weighed in at 168 pounds, while Gilis weighed in at 167 pounds And 15 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Davie Sanchez, and the three ringside judges are Enzo Pizzinato, John Purcell and Billy Byrnes.  

Round 1: 

Wathen steps inside and crashes a hurtful left hook to his opponents body.  GILIS WAS STUNNED BY THAT SHOT!  Gilis recovers before his opponent can take advantage.

Wathen advances into close range.  Gilis quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and drives a left uppercut into his opponents liver.  
Wathen sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Gilis is on target with a cross.

Wathen gets on the inside and is on target with a stinging left hook to his opponents body.  
Gilis throws a right hook, but Wathen ties up his opponent.  Wathen is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref breaks Wathen's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Gilis drops his guard, and stalks his opponent...he wants his opponent to throw a shot.  Wathen lands a left uppercut to the body, a right hook to the body and a cross to the head.

Wathen closes the distance and lands a left hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.

Gilis walks Wathen into a corner.  Wathen lands a cross.  Wathen tries to land a cross, but Gilis parries the shot and counters with a right uppercut.

Wathen gets on the inside and whips in a big right hook to his opponents body.  IT LOOKS LIKE GILIS WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  Wathen tries to land a left hook, but Gilis sidesteps and counters with a right hook to his opponents body.  Gilis quickly recovers.

Wathen digs in a left uppercut to his opponents liver.  
Wathen manouvers Gilis into the blue corner.  Wathen lands a stinging right uppercut.  
Wathen drives a sharp right uppercut into his opponents body.  Wathen holds on to his opponent.  Wathen pushes his forearm into Gilis's face.  The referee warns Wathen and breaks the clinch.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Wathen dabs at his face checking for damage.

Gilis attempts to land a left hook, but Wathen blocks the shot and counters with a cross.  
Wathen lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs, AND DOWN GOES GILIS!  He beats the count, getting up at 6.  
Wathen walks his opponent onto the ropes.  Wathen stalks his opponent...he just needs the right shot to put his opponent away!  Wathen lands a right uppercut to the head, a right hook to the body and a left hook to the body, AND KNOCKS GILIS DOWN!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 6.  It looks like Gilis has now recovered from that earlier bodyshot.

Wathen drives a left hook into Gilis's body.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Gilis has come off worse after that clash of heads.  That has caused a bad cut  the right eye.  .  
Wathen lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Wathen connects with a firm cross.  Wathen throws a right hook, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Gilis lands with a sharp jab.  Gilis tries to land a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a BRUTAL right hook.  GILIS IS DOWN!  He is back up on his feet at 8.
