George Powles vs John Waldie

Boxing Daily Report from the ADR Boxing promoted show at Robina Stadium, Gold Coast,  taking place on 20/01/2035:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  On the line tonight is the Oceania Super Welterweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are George Powles (31(24) - 3(3) - 1) who hails from Brisbane, Australia and John Waldie(27(1) - 12(7)) from Auckland, New Zealand.  Both Powles and Waldie weighed in at 154 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Seth Urbano, and the three ringside judges are Paul Phaup, Ian Norris and Chris Forsythe.  

Round 1: 

Waldie advances into close range.  Powles is on target with a left hook to his opponents body.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Powles dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Powles switches the action to the outside.  Waldie is on target with a jab.  
Waldie throws a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a firm right uppercut.  
Waldie steps inside.  Waldie pivots to the right of his opponent and lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Waldie lands a hard jab.  
Powles is looking to keep his distance and lands an overhand right, cross and an overhand right to his opponents head, AND STUNS HIS OPPONENT!  
Powles stalks his opponent...he just needs the right shot to put his opponent away!  Powles lands a cross followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  He then lands a left hook followed by  two left uppercuts to his opponents head, DROPPING WALDIE TO THE CANVAS!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 4.  Waldie now seems to have his senses back.  
Waldie connects with a cross.  
Powles tries to land a jab, but Waldie parries the shot and counters with a cross.  
Powles lands a right hook followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Waldie advances into close range and throws a left hook, but Powles clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Powles pushes his forearm into Waldie's face.  The ref breaks Powles's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Powles lands a cross followed by  two jabs to his opponents head.  
Waldie lands a ramrod jab.  
Powles lands a right uppercut to the body followed by a cross to the head, AND DROPS WALDIE TO THE CANVAS!  He is back up on his feet at 7.  
Powles lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Powles tries to step out of his opponents range and lands two jabs followed by a cross to his opponents head.  
Waldie forces Powles to back into the ropes.  Waldie sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Waldie attempts to land a jab, but Powles slips the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Waldie quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Waldie throws a cross, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut.  
Waldie steps inside.  Waldie throws a right hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a hurtful right hook.  WALDIE IS HURT!  Waldie almost instantly gets his legs back. 
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Powles's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  Waldie's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.

Waldie steps inside.  Powles drives a sharp right hook into his opponents body.  Powles holds on to his opponent.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Powles tries to step out of his opponents range and lands three consecutive jabs to his opponents head.  
Powles lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Powles is looking to keep the action on the outside and finds the target with a spiteful jab.  
Powles lands a jab to the head followed by a cross to the body.  He then lands a jab followed by  two straights to his opponents head.  
Waldie tries to land a jab, but Powles sidesteps and counters with a solid right uppercut.  
Powles tries to land a jab, but Waldie slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Powles is on target with a jab.  
Waldie connects with a cross.

Powles sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Waldie hits home with a left uppercut.  Waldie throws a jab, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Powles switches the action to the outside and hits the target with a stiff jab.  
Waldie attempts to land an overhand left, but Powles sidesteps and counters with a solid right uppercut.  
Waldie steps inside.  Powles sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a right uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head.

Waldie attempts to land a cross, but Powles blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Waldie is keeping his hands low...it looks like he wants his opponent to throw first.  Powles tries to land a jab, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Waldie is looking to close the distance.  Powles digs in a stinging right hook to his opponents ribs.  
Powles is looking to keep his distance and lands with a hard jab.  
Powles lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.

He then lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head, AND WALDIE IS DOWN!  He unsteadily tries to get up but is unable to beat the 10 count!  The winner by KO is Powles!
