Jonathan Matherson vs Joe McQuire

Boxing Daily Report from the North Star Boxing promoted show at Celebrity Theatre, Phoenix,  taking place on 19/01/2035:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Jonathan Matherson (6(4) - 0) who hails from Boston, USA and Joe McQuire(0 - 0) from Charleston, USA.  Both Matherson and McQuire weighed in at 140 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Esteban Montesano, and the three ringside judges are Will Erwood, Mick Kimmick and Vegas Frias.  

Round 1: 

Matherson lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
McQuire closes the distance and attempts to land a right uppercut, but Matherson blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut to McQuire's body.  
McQuire steps inside and walks his opponent onto the ropes.  McQuire connects with a right hook.  
Matherson switches the action to the outside.  McQuire tries to land an overhand left, but Matherson sidesteps and counters with a cross.

McQuire advances into close range.  Matherson drives a stinging right hook into his opponents ribs.  
McQuire steps inside.  McQuire wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    That accidental headbutt has resulted in some damage to Matherson.  That has caused minor swelling  around the left eye.  
Matherson steps away from his opponent and lands a cross, jab and a cross to his opponents head.  Matherson throws a cross, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a stinging right uppercut.  
Matherson connects with a sharp cross.  
McQuire lands a right hook to the head, a right uppercut to the body and a left uppercut to the head.  Matherson clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, McQuire pushes his forearm into Matherson's face.  The referee warns McQuire and breaks the clinch.  
Matherson tries to keep the action at long range and lands an overhand right followed by a cross to his opponents head.  He then lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  Matherson attempts to land a cross, but McQuire dodges the shot and counters with a sharp right hook.

As they grapple, Matherson pushes his forearm into McQuire's face.  The referee warns Matherson and breaks the clinch.

McQuire is on target with a cross.  
Matherson is looking to keep the action on the outside and lands a cross.  
McQuire advances into close range and hits home with a sharp right hook.  
Matherson hits home with a solid cross.  
Matherson lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
McQuire closes the distance and hits home with a left hook.  Matherson holds on to his opponent.  McQuire throws a hook within the clinch but hits his opponent behind the head.

McQuire steps inside.  Matherson throws a left hook, but is off-target.  Matherson holds on to his opponent.  Matherson hits his opponent with a kidney shot within the clinch. 
Matherson steps away from his opponent and hits home with an overhand right.  
Matherson lands a straight 1 - 2.  
McQuire throws a jab, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a stinging cross.  
Matherson is looking to keep the action on the outside and lands a cross to the body, a jab to the head and an overhand right to the head.

Matherson is looking to keep the action on the outside and lands two straights followed by an overhand right to his opponents head, AND KNOCKS MCQUIRE DOWN!  He tries to rise on shaky legs but McQuire cant beat the count!  The winner by KO is Matherson!
