Kyo Konda vs Daichi Niwa

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Japan-Tokyo promoted show at Dai Tano Gym, Tokyo,  taking place on 10/10/2035:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a final eliminator for the Japan-Tokyo Heavyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Kyo Konda (15 - 22(1) - 7) who hails from Tokyo, Japan and Daichi Niwa(22 - 15 - 5) from Hachioji, Japan.  Konda weighed in at 239 pounds and 3 ounces, while Niwa weighed in at 244 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Kazuhiko Ide, and the three ringside judges are Jun Ogata, Kaede Toyama and Goro Oyama.  

Round 1: 

Niwa steps to the outside and lands an overhand right.  
Niwa forces Konda to retreat onto the ropes.  Niwa pivots to the side of his opponent and finds the target with a jab.  
Niwa is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Niwa sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Konda lands a cross.  
Niwa connects with a cross.  
Konda is looking to keep his distance and attempts to land an overhand right, but Niwa sidesteps and counters with a cross.  
Niwa closes the distance.  Niwa lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  As Konda tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Niwa dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Konda quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands a cross.  
Niwa drives a right hook into Konda's ribs.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Konda's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Konda's trainer is telling his fighter to increase his workrate.  Konda's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.
