Dave Blackard vs Seth Espey

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Canada-Manitoba promoted show at Bradley Pearce Gym, Winnipeg,  taking place on 18/04/2038:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Canada-Manitoba Super Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Dave Blackard (9 - 10(1) - 5) who hails from Winnipeg, Canada and Seth Espey(5 - 5 - 2) from Winnipeg, Canada.  Both Blackard and Espey weighed in at 140 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Dave Henry, and the three ringside judges are Mike Allen, Paul Barrie and Alastair Meredith.  

Round 1: 

Espey switches the action to the outside and attempts to land a cross, but Blackard sidesteps and counters with a cross.  
Espey throws a jab, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a cross.  
Blackard advances into close range.  Espey lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Espey sidesteps to the left of his opponent and hits home with a right hook.  
Blackard walks his opponent into the corner.  Espey lands a right uppercut.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Blackard's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Blackard's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  Blackard's trainer is passing on some tactical advice. As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Blackard has been damaged by the clash of heads.  That has caused slight swelling  around the left eye.
