Cuba Cruz vs Mel Edwards

Boxing Daily Report from the Showtime Promotions promoted show at Denver A.C., Denver,  taking place on 30/07/2038:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on MSG Network, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Cuba Cruz (5(3) - 0) who hails from Arequipa, Peru and Mel Edwards(5 - 1 - 1) from New York City, USA.  Cruz weighed in at 112 pounds, while Edwards weighed in at 112 pounds and 11 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Mark Brimer, and the three ringside judges are Dominic Kennon, Paul Pollick and Gus Nickson.  

Round 1: 

Edwards feints a right hook, but Cruz is not fooled and is on target with a sharp left uppercut.  
Cruz is on target with a jab.  
Cruz hits the target with a hard jab.  
Edwards is looking to close the distance and throws a left hook, but Cruz ties up his opponent.  Cruz uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits Edwards behind the head. As they grapple, Cruz pushes his forearm into Edwards's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Cruz.  
Cruz steps away from his opponent and hits the target with a hard jab.  
Edwards closes the distance and walks Cruz onto the ropes.  Cruz digs in a stinging left hook to his opponents body.  Cruz ties up his opponent.  Cruz is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Edwards pivots to the side of his opponent andCruz wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Edwards dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Cruz is looking to keep the action on the outside and lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Edwards throws a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a stinging right hook.  
Cruz tries to step out of his opponents range and lands a cross followed by a overhand right to his opponents head.  
Edwards sidesteps to the right of his opponent and is on target with a jab.  
Edwards gets on the inside.  Cruz lands a left hook to the head, a right hook to the head and a right hook to the body.  
Cruz finds the target with a solid jab.  
Edwards closes the distance and walks Cruz down, trapping him on the ropes.  Cruz hits home with a stinging left hook.  Cruz clinches his opponent.  Cruz is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. As they grapple, Cruz pushes his forearm into Edwards's face.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Cruz switches the action to the outside and drives a jab into his opponents body.  
Cruz lands a double jab to his opponents head.  He follows up the attack and lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head, AND STUNS HIS OPPONENT!  Edwards recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Cruz lands a jab to the body, and then to the head.  He follows up the attack and lands a double jab to his opponents head.

At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Edwards's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.

Edwards closes the distance and throws a right hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a stinging right hook.  
Cruz lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  He continues the combination and lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Cruz attempts to land a jab, but Edwards dodges the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Cruz is looking to keep his distance and lands with a spiteful jab.  
Cruz lands an overhand right followed by a cross to his opponents head.  
Cruz quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Edwards finds the target with a jab.  
Cruz steps to the outside.  Cruz feints a jab and triggers a right hook counter from Edwards.  Cruz avoids the shot and counters with a VICIOUS right uppercut.  EDWARDS IS HURT!  
Cruz is looking to put the pressure on now...he knows a few clean shots could mean an early night.  Cruz lands a right hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.  He then lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head, AND DROPS EDWARDS TO THE CANVAS!  He beats the count, getting up at 4.  Edwards now appears to have recovered from that earlier shot.  
Cruz lands a jab to the head, an overhand right to the head and a jab to the body.  
Cruz hits home with a firm overhand right.  
Cruz lands a straight 1 - 2.  Cruz attempts to land an overhand left, but Edwards sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut to Cruz's body.  
Cruz is on target with a MASSIVE overhand right.  IT LOOKS LIKE EDWARDS WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  Edwards quickly recovers. 
Cruz lands a cross, jab and an overhand right to his opponents head, AND KNOCKS EDWARDS DOWN!  He is unable to get up before the count reaches 10!  The winner by KO is Cruz!
