Cortez Mare vs Xeres Cuenca

Boxing Daily Report from the North Star Boxing promoted show at Arena Jose Sulaiman, Monterrey,  taking place on 04/06/2039:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Cortez Mare (20(16) - 0) who hails from Tijuana, Mexico and Xeres Cuenca(17 - 11(1) - 10 - 1(NC)) from Acapulco, Mexico.  Mare weighed in at 140 pounds, while Cuenca weighed in at 139 pounds and 15 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Ryo Capellan, and the three ringside judges are Joaquin Andino, Cortez Gloria and Neper Bea.  

Round 1: 

Mare steps inside and is on target with a right hook.  
Mare lands a right uppercut followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Mare is on target with a right uppercut to Cuenca's ribs.  Mare holds on to his opponent.  Mare is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Mare lands a right hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.  He then lands a left uppercut to the body, and then to the head.  
Mare drives a stinging right hook into his opponents body.  
Mare gets on the inside.  Cuenca tries to land a left hook, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Mare lands a right hook to the head followed by two left uppercut's to the body.  
Mare lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Mare is looking to close the distance and drives a sharp right uppercut into Cuenca's body.

Mare attempts to land a left hook, but Cuenca parries the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Mare lands a left uppercut followed by  two left hooks to his opponents body.

Mare wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Cuenca dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Mare lands a right hook to the body followed by a right uppercut to the head.  Mare ties up his opponent.  Mare is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Mare about fouling.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Cuenca's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Cuenca's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

Cuenca quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Mare digs in a left hook to his opponents body.  
Cuenca sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Mare hits home with a stinging left hook.  
Mare lands a left uppercut followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.  
Mare attempts to land a jab, but Cuenca slips the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Mare lands a right hook to the body followed by a cross to the head.  
Mare advances into close range.  Mare sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a left uppercut, right uppercut and a right hook to his opponents body, AND SENDS CUENCA SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 4.  Cuenca quickly recovers.

Mare is looking to close the distance and digs in a stinging right hook to Cuenca's ribcage.

Mare walks Cuenca onto the ropes.  Mare lands a right uppercut to the body, and then to the head.  He continues the combination and lands consecutive right uppercuts to his opponents body.  
Mare throws a right uppercut, but the shot is blocked.  Mare holds on to his opponent.  Mare uses his free hand to throw a body hook, but it lands on Cuenca's kidney. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.

Mare stalks his opponent...he just needs the right shot to put his opponent away!  Mare lands a left uppercut to the head followed by a right hook to the body, KNOCKING CUENCA DOWN!  He fails to beat the count!  The winner by KO is Mare!
