Eiji Matsunaga vs Taro Kido

Boxing Daily Report from the Paintsil Promotions promoted show at Kazuki Fujikawa Gym, Ichikawa,  taking place on 27/07/2039:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Japan-Chiba Featherweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Eiji Matsunaga (6 - 7 - 1) who hails from Ichikawa, Japan and Taro Kido(8 - 6(1)) from Ichikawa, Japan.  Matsunaga weighed in at 126 pounds, while Kido weighed in at 125 pounds and 9 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Kazuhiko Sakaguchi, and the three ringside judges are Ichiro Yamada, Kaede Ishimoto and Jiro Tobe.  

Round 1: 

Matsunaga backs onto the ropes...he is waving his opponent in!  Kido tries to tag Matsunaga on the ropes, but his opponent blocks every shot!

Kido pivots to the side of his opponent.  Kido attempts to land a jab, but Matsunaga sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut.  
Matsunaga advances into close range.  Kido pivots from in front of his opponent and lands a right hook.

Kido steps to the outside and connects with an overhand left.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Matsunaga's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Matsunaga's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  Matsunaga's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  Kido's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.

Kido wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Matsunaga has taken some damage there.  That has caused slight swelling  around the right eye.
