Valeri Badenov vs Arseni Shakhrai

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Russia-Tatarstan promoted show at Kazan Zentsov, Kazan,  taking place on 18/01/2040:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Russia Middleweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Eurosport Russia, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Valeri Badenov (14 - 15(3) - 4) who hails from Kazan, Russia and Arseni Shakhrai(29(10) - 4) from Saint Petersburg, Russia.  Badenov weighed in at 160 pounds and 7 ounces, while Shakhrai weighed in at 159 pounds and 8 ounces.    As Badenov came in over the weight limit, only his opponent will be able to compete for the final eliminator position tonight.  
The referee tonight is Marlen Bryzgalov, and the three ringside judges are Ivan Zakharov, Isaak Volchenkov and Dmitri Georgiev.  

Round 1: 

Shakhrai steps inside and lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Shakhrai sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a right uppercut followed by  two left hooks to his opponents body, AND STUNS HIS OPPONENT!  
The right shot from Shakhrai could be enough to force the stoppage!  Shakhrai lands a right uppercut, right hook and a left uppercut to his opponents body.  He follows up the attack and lands a cross to the head followed by two left uppercut's to the body, DROPPING BADENOV TO THE CANVAS!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 4.  It looks like Badenov has now recovered from that earlier bodyshot.  
Shakhrai gets on the inside.  Shakhrai sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands two left hook's to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  
Badenov advances into close range.  Shakhrai lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  
Shakhrai drives a left hook into Badenov's body.  
Badenov pivots to the side of his opponent.  Shakhrai lands a right hook to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  Shakhrai holds on to his opponent.  Shakhrai pushes his forearm into Badenov's face.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Shakhrai gets on the inside and lands a left uppercut, left hook and a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Shakhrai throws a right hook, but is unable to get through his opponents guard.  Shakhrai holds on to his opponent.  Shakhrai leans on his opponent using all his weight. As they grapple, Shakhrai pushes his forearm into Badenov's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Shakhrai about fouling.  
Shakhrai lands a right hook, left hook and a right uppercut to his opponents head.  
Badenov lands a left hook.  
Shakhrai lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Badenov forces Shakhrai to retreat onto the ropes.  Shakhrai lands a left hook.  
Shakhrai closes the distance and lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head, AND BADENOV IS KNOCKED DOWN!  He is back up on his feet at 4.  
Shakhrai lands a cross.  
Badenov forces Shakhrai to back into the ropes.  Shakhrai hits home with a sharp left hook.  Shakhrai clinches his opponent.  Shakhrai uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits Badenov behind the head. 
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Badenov's trainer is telling his fighter to tighten his defence.

Badenov throws a left hook, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a left hook.
