Mark Mattox vs Ramirez Rivera

Boxing Daily Report from the Montreal's Top Gym promoted show at Toyota Park, Chicago,  taking place on 11/05/2040:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Mark Mattox (2(1) - 0) who hails from Oxnard, USA and Ramirez Rivera(23 - 11 - 1) from St. Petersburg, USA.  Both Mattox and Rivera weighed in at 130 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Hugh Magrum, and the three ringside judges are Dave Maddox, Wayne Gregor and Colin Karolewicz.  

Round 1: 

Mattox closes the distance.  Rivera throws a left hook, but Mattox holds on to his opponent.  Mattox pushes his forearm into Rivera's face.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Mattox connects with a solid cross.  
Mattox closes the distance and lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  Mattox clinches his opponent.  Mattox leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. As they grapple, Mattox pushes his forearm into Rivera's face.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Rivera pivots to the right of his opponent.  Mattox lands a left hook to the head followed by a left uppercut to the body.  
Mattox closes the distance and is on target with a sharp left hook.  
Mattox throws a left hook, but his opponent avoids the punch.  Mattox clinches his opponent.  Mattox pushes his forearm into Rivera's face.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Mattox lands three consecutive left uppercuts to his opponents head.  
Mattox advances into close range.  Mattox pivots to the side of his opponent and lands a stinging right uppercut.  
Mattox lands a right hook to the head followed by two left hook's to the body.  
Rivera throws a left hook, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Rivera tries to step out of his opponents range.  Mattox connects with a cross.  
Mattox lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  He then lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Mattox advances into close range and is on target with a right hook to his opponents body.  Mattox ties up his opponent.  Mattox pushes his forearm into Rivera's face.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Mattox lands a sharp right hook.  
Rivera throws a left hook, but Mattox holds on to his opponent.  Mattox uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits Rivera behind the head. 
Mattox drives a sharp left hook into his opponents liver.  
Mattox pivots to the left of his opponent and connects with a firm right hook.  
Mattox throws a right hook, but his opponent steps away from the shot.  Mattox ties up his opponent.  Mattox leans on his opponent using all his weight. Mattox uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits Rivera behind the head. Rivera pushes his forearm into Mattox's face.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Rivera's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Rivera's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.  Rivera's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

Mattox is on target with a left hook to Rivera's ribs.  Mattox attempts to land a right hook, but Rivera parries the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Mattox lands a left hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Mattox drives a solid left hook into Rivera's body.  
Mattox drives a stinging right hook into Rivera's body.  
Mattox lands a left hook to the body, a left uppercut to the head and a right hook to the head.  
Mattox is on target with a ramrod jab.  
Rivera is on target with a cross.  
Mattox closes the distance and lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Rivera throws a right uppercut, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a firm right uppercut.  
Mattox steps inside and lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Mattox quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands a sharp left hook.  
Mattox sidesteps to the left of his opponent and is on target with a sharp left hook.  
Mattox walks Rivera into the corner.  Mattox lands two right hooks to the body, and one to the head.  
Mattox lands a stinging right hook.  
Mattox digs in a right hook to Rivera's ribcage.  
Mattox is on target with a solid right hook.  
Mattox closes the distance and lands two left hook's to the head followed by a right hook to the body, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  
Mattox is really starting to turn up the heat!  He senses a stoppage here.  Mattox lands a FIERCE right uppercut.  RIVERA IS DOWN!  He beats the count, getting up at 8.  It looks like Rivera has now recovered from that shot earlier.  
Mattox gets on the inside.  Rivera sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Mattox lands a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  Rivera quickly recovers. 
Mattox hits home with a left hook.  
Rivera switches the action to the outside.  Mattox lands a sharp overhand left.  
Mattox lands a jab followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Mattox advances into close range and is on target with a stinging left hook.  Mattox clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Rivera pushes his forearm into Mattox's face.  The ref breaks Mattox's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Mattox gets on the inside and lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  Rivera almost instantly gets his legs back. 
At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...Rivera's trainer is advising how he could stop so many clean shots getting through.

Rivera finds the target with a jab.  
Mattox is on target with a stinging left hook to his opponents body.  
Mattox advances into close range.  Mattox sidesteps to the right of his opponent and hits home with a right hook.  
Mattox advances into close range.  Mattox lands two left hooks to the body, and one to the head.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Rivera dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Mattox lands a solid jab.  
Rivera is looking to keep his distance.  Mattox hits home with an overhand right.  
Mattox steps inside and lands a right hook to the body followed by a left uppercut to the head.  Mattox clinches his opponent.  Mattox leans on his opponent using all his weight. Mattox pushes his forearm into Rivera's face.  The ref separates the two fighters.  
Mattox lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Mattox lands a left hook followed by a cross to his opponents head, AND SENDS RIVERA TO THE CANVAS!  He manages to get up at 4.  
Rivera now seems to have his senses back.  
Mattox connects with a left hook.  
Rivera lands a right hook.  
Rivera throws a short cross to the body, but lands low!  The ref stops the action and gives Mattox time to recover.  
Mattox quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  Rivera almost instantly gets his legs back. 
Mattox is on target with a stinging left uppercut to Rivera's liver.  
Mattox advances into close range and lands a WICKED right uppercut.  RIVERA IS DROPPED TO THE CANVAS!  HE TRIES TO RISE ON SHAKY LEGS BUT RIVERA CAN'T BEAT THE COUNT!  The winner by KO is Mattox!
