Dave Hughson vs Harry Elg

Boxing Daily Report from the Smokin Joe promoted show at California Memorial Stadium, San Francisco,  taking place on 09/06/2040:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Smooth Dave Hughson (72(58) - 1(1) - 1) who hails from Oakland, USA and Harry Elg(33(2) - 11(5)) from Stockholm, Sweden.  Both Hughson and Elg weighed in at 140 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Paul Snedden, and the three ringside judges are Lewis Mein, Chris Jones and Zachary Salmond.  

Round 1: 

Hughson lands a cross.  
Hughson feints a cross, and then connects with a stinging cross.  
Hughson tries to keep the action at long range and is on target with a solid overhand right.  
Elg is looking to close the distance and lands a left hook to the body followed by a right uppercut to the head.  Elg attempts to land a left hook, but Hughson blocks the shot and counters with a solid cross.  
Hughson sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Hughson switches the action to the outside and drives a stinging jab into his opponents body.  
Elg steps inside and lands a right hook to the head, a right hook to the body and a left hook to the head.  
Hughson throws a left uppercut, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut.  
Elg closes the distance and lands a left hook to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  
Elg lands a right hook.  Hughson ties up his opponent.  Elg throws a hook within the clinch but hits his opponent behind the head. Hughson leans on his opponent using all his weight. Elg pushes his forearm into Hughson's face.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Hughson lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Elg walks his opponent down, trapping him on the ropes.  Hughson throws a right hook, but his opponent parries the shot.  Hughson clinches his opponent.  Hughson is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Hughson about fouling.  
Hughson quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Elg is on target with a cross.  
Hughson hits the target with a stiff jab.

Elg steps inside and attempts to land a right hook, but Hughson slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Hughson switches the action to the outside and lands a cross, jab and a cross to his opponents head.

Hughson is on target with a firm right hook to Elg's body.  
Hughson tries to step out of his opponents range and is on target with a stinging cross.  
Elg walks Hughson down, trapping him on the ropes.  Elg drives a left hook into his opponents body.  
Elg gets on the inside and digs in a left hook to Hughson's liver.  
Hughson lands a cross.  
Elg advances into close range and is on target with a right hook.  
Hughson tries to keep the action at long range and lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Elg advances into close range.  Hughson lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.

Hughson lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  Elg recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Hughson feints a jab, and then lands a HUGE cross.  IT LOOKS LIKE ELG WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  Elg quickly recovers. 
Hughson is on target with a solid left hook.  Hughson clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Elg pushes his forearm into Hughson's face.  The referee warns Elg and breaks the clinch.  
Elg lands a left uppercut followed by  two right hooks to his opponents head.  
Hughson steps to the outside and attempts to land a jab, but Elg sidesteps and counters with a right hook.  
Elg attempts to land a left uppercut, but Hughson parries the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Hughson steps away from his opponent and lands two consecutive overhand rights to his opponents head.  
Hughson connects with an overhand right.  
Elg closes the distance and is on target with a left uppercut.  
Elg walks his opponent onto the ropes.  Elg attempts to land a right hook, but Hughson sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut to Elg's ribs.  
Hughson lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head, AND SENDS ELG TO THE CANVAS!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 4.  Elg quickly recovers. 
Hughson steps away from his opponent and lands a jab to the body followed by a cross to the head.

Elg gets on the inside and lands a right hook to the head, a left hook to the body and a left uppercut to the body.  
Hughson is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Elg quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Hughson lands a jab followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  
Elg closes the distance.  Hughson senses his opponent is hurt.  He is looking to stop Elg and just needs the right shot.  Hughson connects with a FIERCE left uppercut.  ELG HAS BEEN KNOCKED DOWN!  He manages to get up at 6.

Elg throws a left uppercut, but Hughson holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, Elg pushes his forearm into Hughson's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Elg.  
Hughson is looking to keep his distance.  Hughson sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Hughson lands a straight 1 - 2, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  Elg quickly recovers.

Hughson throws a left hook, but the shot is blocked.  Hughson holds on to his opponent.  Elg leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks Hughson's hold and signals for the fight to continue.

Elg attempts to land a right hook, but Hughson blocks the shot and counters with a firm left hook.  
Hughson tries to keep the action at long range and DETONATES a FIERCE overhand left on his opponents face.  ELG IS DOWN!  He manages to get up at 8.  However, the ref is not convinced Elg is fit to continue. He waves off the fight!  The winner by TKO is Hughson!
