Richie Bankes vs John Gatt

Boxing Daily Report from the AI New Zealand-Waikato promoted show at Mike Lovitt Gym, Hamilton,  taking place on 30/05/2040:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the New Zealand-Waikato Featherweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Richie Bankes (6 - 16 - 7) who hails from Hamilton, New Zealand and John Gatt(14 - 8 - 1) from Hamilton, New Zealand.  Bankes weighed in at 126 pounds And 10 ounces, while Gatt weighed in at 125 pounds And 9 ounces.    As Bankes came in over the weight limit, only his opponent will be able to compete for the final eliminator position tonight.  
The referee tonight is Leeroy Moreland, and the three ringside judges are David Clewis, Sam Gowens and David Darnley.

Bankes tries to land a left uppercut, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a left hook to Bankes's body.  
Bankes switches the action to the outside and attempts to land an overhand right, but Gatt sidesteps and counters with a left uppercut.  
Bankes drops his hands, and waves his opponent in.  Gatt lands a cross.  
Gatt is on target with a cross.  
Bankes is looking to close the distance.  Gatt hits home with a left hook.  
Bankes attempts to land a right hook, but Gatt slips the shot and counters with a left uppercut to Bankes's body.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Gatt's trainer is advising how he could be more accurate.

Bankes closes the distance and attempts to land a left hook, but Gatt slips the shot and counters with a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref steps in and separates the two fighters to check for damage.  Its not looking good!  The ref has ruled that the fight cannot continue due to the accidental damage.  As less than 4 rounds have been completed its going to be a no-contest!
