Jay Pinner vs Douglas McConkie

Boxing Daily Report from the HONEYPUNCH promoted show at The Dean, Cork,  taking place on 25/05/2040:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 4 round matchup are Jay Pinner (0 - 0) who hails from Cologne, Germany and Douglas McConkie(0 - 3) from York, UK.  Both Pinner and McConkie weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Shamus Brogan, and the three ringside judges are Henry Ross, Killian Corcoran and Sam Brody.  

Round 1: 

Pinner lands a left uppercut.  
McConkie gets on the inside.  Pinner drives a left hook into McConkie's liver.  
McConkie pivots from in front of his opponent.  McConkie throws a left hook, but Pinner ties up his opponent.  Pinner pushes his forearm into McConkie's face.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Pinner lands a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
Pinner lands a left uppercut to the body, and then to the head.  
Pinner voluntarily retreats back onto the ropes...he waves his opponent in!  McConkie steps in throwing power shots but is unable to land cleanly.  
McConkie pivots to the side of his opponent.  Pinner lands a right hook to the head, a left hook to the body and a right hook to the body.  
Pinner advances into close range and lands a left hook to the head followed by a right uppercut to the body.  
Pinner lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Pinner digs in a left hook to his opponents body.  
Pinner is on target with a telling right hook.  MCCONKIE WAS STUNNED BY THAT SHOT!  Pinner attempts to land a left uppercut, but McConkie blocks the shot and counters with a cross.  McConkie quickly recovers. 
Pinner advances into close range.  McConkie pivots to the left of his opponent.  Pinner throws a right hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a left uppercut.  
Pinner lands a firm right hook.  
Pinner is on target with a stinging left hook to his opponents body.

McConkie gets on the inside.  McConkie sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  McConkie throws a right hook, but Pinner clinches his opponent.  Pinner is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Pinner about fouling.  
Pinner connects with a left hook.  Pinner holds on to his opponent.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Pinner advances into close range and is on target with a left hook.  
McConkie connects with a right hook.  
Pinner lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Pinner steps inside and digs in a firm right hook to his opponents ribs.  Pinner ties up his opponent.  Pinner leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref separates the two fighters.  
McConkie pivots from in front of his opponent.  Pinner lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Pinner's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  McConkie's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  McConkie's trainer is advising how he could improve his defence.

Pinner steps away from his opponent and attempts to land a jab, but McConkie sidesteps and counters with a right hook.  
Pinner is on target with a cross.  
Pinner closes the distance and lands two left hooks followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Pinner hits the target with a hard jab.  
Pinner lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Pinner is on target with a solid left hook to his opponents body.  Pinner holds on to his opponent.  Pinner is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Pinner about fouling.

Pinner throws a left hook, but his opponent parries the shot.  Pinner ties up his opponent.  McConkie uses his free hand to throw a body hook, but it lands on Pinner's kidney. Pinner tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits McConkie behind the head. The ref breaks Pinner's hold and signals for the fight to continue.
