Peter Kogo vs Greg Kimanthi

Boxing Daily Report from the Konga Promotions promoted show at Nairobi Kamakya, Nairobi,  taking place on 28/06/2040:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Kenya-Nairobi Featherweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Peter Kogo (14 - 13(1) - 1) who hails from Nairobi, Kenya and Greg Kimanthi(11 - 6 - 2) from Nairobi, Kenya.  Kogo weighed in at 125 pounds and 11 ounces, while Kimanthi weighed in at 126 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Rob Birdi, and the three ringside judges are Shaun Chelangat, Paul Changeywo and Salim Kosgei.  

Round 1: 

Kimanthi throws a cross, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a right hook to Kimanthi's body.  
Kogo steps inside.  Kimanthi hits home with a left hook.  
Kogo tries to land a left uppercut, but Kimanthi blocks the shot and counters with a right hook.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Kogo's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Kimanthi's trainer is advising how he could be more accurate.

Kogo steps inside.  Kogo quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Kimanthi hits home with a left hook.  
Kimanthi throws an uppercut to the body, but lands well below the belt!  The ref stops the action.  The ref sends Kogo to the neutral corner.  He has a stern word with Kimanthi and threatens a point deduction if continues to foul.  
Kimanthi is looking to close the distance.  Kogo sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Kimanthi is on target with a right hook.  
Kogo switches the action to the outside and throws a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a right hook.  
Kimanthi hits home with a cross.

The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Kimanthi has taken some damage there.  That has caused minor swelling  around the left eye.
