Jordan Shields vs Dominic Lorimer

Boxing Daily Report from the Kiwi Boxing Academy promoted show at Simasiku Gym, Auckland,  taking place on 22/07/2040:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a mandatory fight for the New Zealand-Auckland Super Bantamweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Prime, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Jordan Shields (4 - 11(1) - 2) who hails from Auckland, New Zealand and Dominic Lorimer(20(14) - 3) from Waitakere, New Zealand.  Shields weighed in at 122 pounds And 13 ounces, while Lorimer weighed in at 121 pounds And 1 ounces.    As Shields came in over the weight limit, only his opponent will be able to compete for the titles on the line tonight.  
The referee tonight is Patrick Mareroa, and the three ringside judges are Justin Patariki, James Woodburn and Mark Kinzey.  

Round 1: 

Lorimer advances into close range and lands a left uppercut to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
Shields steps away from his opponent and is on target with an overhand right.  
Lorimer steps inside and lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  Lorimer ties up his opponent.  Lorimer pushes his forearm into Shields's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Lorimer about fouling.  
Lorimer lands a right hook to the head, a left hook to the head and a right uppercut to the body, AND DROPS SHIELDS TO THE CANVAS!  He is back up on his feet at 4.  Lorimer clinches his opponent.  Lorimer is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref breaks Lorimer's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Lorimer lands a sharp left hook.  Lorimer clinches his opponent.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Lorimer digs in a left hook to Shields's body.  
Lorimer lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  Lorimer holds on to his opponent.  Lorimer is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Lorimer has taken some damage from that accidental headbutt.  That has caused slight swelling  around the left eye.

Lorimer advances into close range and lands a left hook.  Lorimer clinches his opponent.  Lorimer tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Shields's kidney. The referee breaks the clinch and warns Lorimer to stop fouling.  
Shields throws a left hook, but Lorimer holds on to his opponent.  Lorimer leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Lorimer forces Shields to retreat into the blue corner.  Lorimer lands a right hook to the body followed by a right uppercut to the head.  
Lorimer connects with a left uppercut.  
Lorimer drives a left uppercut into Shields's body.  
Shields tries to keep the action at long range.  Lorimer lands a solid jab.  
Lorimer lands a jab to the head followed by a right uppercut to the body.  
Lorimer gets on the inside and digs in a forceful right hook to his opponents body.  SHIELDS IS SENT SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  He is back up on his feet at 4.  
Lorimer lands a left hook to the head, a left hook to the body and a right hook to the head.  
Lorimer digs in a right hook to his opponents ribs.  
Lorimer finds the target with a jab.  
Lorimer digs in a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Lorimer advances into close range and throws a left hook, but the shot lands on his opponents guard.  Lorimer holds on to his opponent.  Lorimer leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref breaks Lorimer's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Shields's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Shields's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.

Lorimer advances into close range and throws a right hook, but is unable to get through his opponents guard.  Lorimer holds on to his opponent.  Lorimer leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Lorimer lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Lorimer pivots to the left of his opponent.  Lorimer is on target with a solid right hook.  Lorimer clinches his opponent.  Shields is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee warns Shields and breaks the clinch.  
Lorimer lands a right uppercut to the body, a right uppercut to the head and a left uppercut to the head.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  
Lorimer is looking for the shot to finish his opponent.  Lorimer lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  He then lands a right uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents body, AND SHIELDS IS DOWN!  He beats the count, getting up at 4.  
Lorimer lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs, AND SHIELDS IS DOWN!  He manages to get up at 8.  It looks like Shields has now recovered from that earlier bodyshot.  
Shields pivots to the right of his opponent.  Shields throws a left uppercut, but Lorimer clinches his opponent.  Lorimer leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Lorimer is looking to close the distance and walks his opponent onto the ropes.  Lorimer lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  Shields quickly recovers. 
Lorimer gets on the inside.  Lorimer pivots to the side of his opponent and lands a left uppercut to the head, a left hook to the head and a right hook to the body.  
Shields lands a right hook.  
Lorimer steps inside and lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Shields steps away from his opponent.  Lorimer lands a cross followed by  two jabs to his opponents head.  
Lorimer is looking to close the distance and manages to force Shields onto the ropes.  Shields throws a right hook, but Lorimer holds on to his opponent.  Lorimer leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Lorimer lands a left uppercut.  
Lorimer sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a firm left hook.  
Lorimer connects with a sharp cross.  
Lorimer pivots to the left of his opponent and connects with a right hook.  
Shields steps away from his opponent.  Lorimer strikes his opponents body with a cross.  
Lorimer advances into close range and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head, AND SENDS SHIELDS TO THE CANVAS!  He is still struggling to his feet as the count reaches 10!  The winner by KO is Lorimer!
