Ikechukwu Acquah vs Mel Afonja

Boxing Daily Report from the Assifuah Promotions promoted show at Efe Obiajunwa Gym, Umuahia,  taking place on 31/10/2040:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Nigeria-Abia State Super Welterweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Ikechukwu Acquah (9 - 7 - 2) who hails from Aba, Nigeria and Mel Afonja(5 - 1) from Aba, Nigeria.  Acquah weighed in at 154 pounds, while Afonja weighed in at 153 pounds and 12 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Jay Onuegbu, and the three ringside judges are Yakubu Egbedi, Ali Sharaf and Lukman Shuaib.  

Round 1: 

Afonja finds the target with a jab.

The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Afonja has been damaged by that accidental headbutt.  That has caused slight swelling  around the right eye.
