Steven Quirk vs Mel Monahan

Boxing Daily Report from the Sihumbwa Promotions promoted show at Milwaukee McQuillin, Milwaukee,  taking place on 08/04/2041:

Clearly Sihumbwa Promotions have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the USA-Wisconsin Featherweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Steven Quirk (12 - 7(2) - 4) who hails from Milwaukee, USA and Mel Monahan(1 - 0) from Milwaukee, USA.  Both Quirk and Monahan weighed in at 126 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Rex Applegarth, and the three ringside judges are Chris Bobet, Theo Gwenn and Richard Cavanagh.  

Round 1: 

Monahan steps inside and is on target with a solid right uppercut to Quirk's ribs.  
Monahan lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Monahan steps inside and lands a left hook, right uppercut and a left uppercut to his opponents head.  
Monahan connects with a stinging left hook.  Monahan holds on to his opponent.  Monahan is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref separates the two fighters.  
Monahan lands a left hook to the head, a right hook to the head and a left uppercut to the body.  
Quirk drops his guard, and stalks his opponent...he wants his opponent to throw a shot.  Monahan throws a jab, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Monahan gets on the inside and digs in a firm right uppercut to his opponents body.  
Monahan hits home with a right hook.  
Monahan sidesteps to the right of his opponent and is on target with a firm right uppercut.  
Quirk throws a left hook, but Monahan ties up his opponent.  Monahan tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Quirk's kidney. The referee warns Monahan and breaks the clinch.  
Monahan hits home with a sharp right hook.  Monahan clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Monahan pushes his forearm into Quirk's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Monahan about fouling.  
Monahan hits home with a left uppercut.  
Monahan lands a stinging right uppercut.  
Monahan gets on the inside.  Quirk throws a right hook, but Monahan ties up his opponent.  Monahan is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Monahan advances into close range.  Monahan sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
Quirk switches the action to the outside and lands an overhand left.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Quirk's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...Quirk's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  Quirk's trainer is advising how he could stop so many clean shots getting through.

Quirk steps away from his opponent.  Monahan lands a straight 1 - 2.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  
Quirk switches the action to the outside.  Some sustained pressure from Monahan could be enough to finish Quirk!  Monahan lands a left hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  He continues the combination and lands a right hook, cross and a right hook to his opponents head, AND SENDS QUIRK SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  He fails to beat the count!  The winner by KO is Monahan!
