Paul Maddox vs Gregor Douglass

Boxing Daily Report from the Western Promotions promoted show at Western Gym International, Liverpool,  taking place on 29/10/2041:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Paul Maddox (3(3) - 0) who hails from Nottingham, UK and Gregor Douglass(0 - 1 - 1) from Bradford, UK.  Maddox weighed in at 117 pounds and 4 ounces, while Douglass weighed in at 117 pounds and 2 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Shaun Halliburton, and the three ringside judges are Noel Moris, Dai Tierney and Chris MacGibbon.  

Round 1: 

Douglass advances into close range.  Maddox connects with a sharp left hook.  
Maddox tries to step out of his opponents range and is on target with a cross.  
Douglass tries to land a right hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Maddox lands a cross to the head, a jab to the head and a left hook to the body.  
Douglass closes the distance.  Maddox lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  Maddox ties up his opponent.  Maddox leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Maddox switches the action to the outside and hits home with a solid overhand right.  
Douglass tries to land a cross, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a right uppercut to his opponents ribcage.  
Maddox steps away from his opponent and lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Douglass throws a left uppercut, but Maddox ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Douglass pushes his forearm into Maddox's face.  The referee warns Douglass and breaks the clinch.  
Maddox is on target with a jab.  
Maddox is looking to keep the action on the outside and lands an overhand right followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Maddox finds the target with a hard jab.  
Douglass steps inside.  Maddox pivots to the side of his opponent and lands a right hook to the head, a right hook to the body and a left hook to the body.  
Maddox feints a right hook, and then is on target with a sharp overhand right.  
Maddox sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a firm left hook.  
Maddox steps to the outside and lands a ramrod jab.  
Douglass manouvers Maddox onto the ropes.  Maddox attempts to land a cross, but Douglass slips the shot and counters with a right uppercut to Maddox's ribs.  
Maddox tries to keep the action at long range and lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Maddox steps to the outside and lands a jab.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Douglass's trainer is telling his fighter to increase his workrate.  Douglass's trainer is advising how he could improve his defence.

Maddox lands two straights followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Maddox is looking to keep his distance and EXPLODES a hurtful cross into his opponents face.  IT LOOKS LIKE DOUGLASS WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  
Maddox thinks he can end the show early....he's looking to put Douglass away.  Maddox lands a right hook, left uppercut and a left hook to his opponents head.  He follows up the attack and lands a right hook, right uppercut and a left uppercut to his opponents head.  Douglass now appears to have recovered from that earlier shot.  
Maddox tries to step out of his opponents range.  Maddox feints a cross, and then is on target with a potent overhand right.  DOUGLASS IS HURT!  Douglass quickly recovers. 
Douglass sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Maddox drives a sharp right hook into his opponents body.  
Maddox is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Maddox sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Douglass tries to land an overhand right, but Maddox blocks the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Douglass is looking to close the distance.  Maddox throws a left hook, but his opponent avoids the punch.  Maddox clinches his opponent.  Maddox pushes his forearm into Douglass's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Maddox about fouling.  
Douglass connects with a left hook.  
Douglass attempts to land a right hook, but Maddox blocks the shot and counters with a sharp right hook to Douglass's body.  
Douglass advances into close range.  Maddox pivots from in front of his opponent.  Maddox throws a left hook, but his opponent avoids the shot.  Maddox holds on to his opponent.  Maddox leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks Maddox's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Maddox hits home with a cross.  
Maddox tries to keep the action at long range and lands a jab, overhand right and a cross to his opponents head.  
Maddox steps to the outside and lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head, AND STUNS HIS OPPONENT!  Douglass recovers before his opponent can take advantage.
