Diego Sastre vs Pirkka Merikanto

Boxing Daily Report from the Jaromir Dobroniecki promoted show at Upstate Medical University Arena, Syracuse,  taking place on 26/11/2041:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Diego Chimor Sastre (3(1) - 0) who hails from Lima, Peru and Pirkka Merikanto(17 - 8(6) - 2) from Vantaa, Finland.  Sastre weighed in at 146 pounds and 11 ounces, while Merikanto weighed in at 146 pounds and 13 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Matthew Renwick, and the three ringside judges are James Daley, Sean Jackson and Patrick Moffitt.  

Round 1: 

Merikanto steps to the outside.  Sastre feints a right hook, and then lands a cross.  
Sastre lands a left uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  Merikanto almost instantly recovers. 
Sastre steps inside and throws a left hook, but is unable to get through his opponents guard.  Sastre clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Sastre pushes his forearm into Merikanto's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Sastre.  
Sastre lands a left hook to the body, a right hook to the body and a left hook to the head.  Sastre clinches his opponent.  Sastre leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Sastre lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head, AND STUNS HIS OPPONENT!  Sastre clinches his opponent.  Sastre hits his opponent with a kidney shot within the clinch. The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Sastre about fouling.  
Sastre is really starting to turn up the heat!  He senses a stoppage here.  Sastre lands a left uppercut to the body, a cross to the head and a left uppercut to the body, AND SENDS MERIKANTO TO THE CANVAS!  He is back up on his feet at 5.  
Sastre steps inside.  Sastre lands a left uppercut to the head followed by a left hook to the body, AND MERIKANTO IS KNOCKED DOWN!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 4.  It looks like Merikanto has now recovered from that earlier bodyshot.  
Sastre digs in a right hook to Merikanto's body.  
Sastre is looking to close the distance and lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  He continues the combination and lands a right hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.  Sastre ties up his opponent.  Sastre leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Sastre gets on the inside.  Sastre sidesteps to the right of his opponent and drives a left hook into Merikanto's body.  
Sastre finds the target with a jab.  
Sastre is looking to close the distance.  Merikanto sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Sastre lands a right hook, right uppercut and a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Sastre lands a left hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.  He then lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Sastre throws a left hook, but his opponent avoids the punch.  Sastre holds on to his opponent.  Sastre leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Sastre lands a right hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  
Sastre lands a right hook, left hook and a right hook to his opponents body.  
Sastre is on target with a left hook to Merikanto's body.  
Sastre drives a potent left hook into his opponents liver.  MERIKANTO IS HURT!  Merikanto quickly recovers. 
Sastre is on target with a left uppercut.

Merikanto is looking to keep the action on the outside and attempts to land a jab, but Sastre blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.

Sastre digs in a stinging left hook to his opponents liver.  
Sastre digs in a left uppercut to Merikanto's ribs.  
Merikanto quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Sastre finds the target with a jab.  
Sastre feints a jab, and then digs in a solid left uppercut to Merikanto's ribs.  
Sastre lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  Sastre holds on to his opponent.  Sastre leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Merikanto lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Merikanto attempts to land a cross, but Sastre sidesteps and counters with a stinging left uppercut.  
Sastre lands a right uppercut, left hook and a right hook to his opponents body.  
Sastre advances into close range and digs in a left hook to Merikanto's liver.  
Sastre lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  Merikanto recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Sastre throws a right hook, but his opponent parries the shot.  Sastre ties up his opponent.  Sastre is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.

Merikanto throws a left hook, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a right hook.

Merikanto throws a jab, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a solid right uppercut.  
Sastre closes the distance and lands a double left hook to his opponents head.

At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...Merikanto's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Merikanto's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.  Merikanto's trainer is advising how he could stop so many clean shots getting through.
