Mark Mortimer vs Paul Taggart

Boxing Daily Report from the CP Boxing promoted show at GNS Sports Complex, New Amsterdam,  taking place on 26/12/2041:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Guyana-North Light Flyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Mark Mortimer (9(3) - 3(1) - 2) who hails from Georgetown, Guyana and Paul Taggart(2 - 4) from Georgetown, Guyana.  Both Mortimer and Taggart weighed in at 108 pounds.  
The referee tonight is John Crombie, and the three ringside judges are Malcolm Glendinning, Daniel Ines and Jamie Boone.  

Round 1: 

Mortimer is looking to close the distance and throws a left hook, but the shot is blocked.  Mortimer holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, Mortimer pushes his forearm into Taggart's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Mortimer.  
Mortimer lands a right uppercut to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  Mortimer holds on to his opponent.  Mortimer leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Mortimer digs in a solid right hook to his opponents ribcage.  Mortimer clinches his opponent.  Mortimer leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Mortimer lands a left hook to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  Mortimer ties up his opponent.  Mortimer uses his free hand to throw a body hook, but it lands on Taggart's kidney. The ref breaks Mortimer's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Mortimer lands a right uppercut.  
Mortimer manouvers Taggart into a corner.  Mortimer lands consecutive right uppercuts to his opponents body.  Mortimer clinches his opponent.  Mortimer tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Taggart behind the head. The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Mortimer about fouling.  
Mortimer lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  
Mortimer is on target with a cross.  
Mortimer advances into close range.  Mortimer sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Taggart tries to land a left hook, but Mortimer sidesteps and counters with a right hook.  
Mortimer lands a left uppercut to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  Mortimer ties up his opponent.  Mortimer leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks Mortimer's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Mortimer lands a right uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  
Mortimer lands a left uppercut, right uppercut and a left hook to his opponents body.  
Mortimer lands a right hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Mortimer forces Taggart to retreat into the corner.  Mortimer lands two left uppercuts to the body, and one to the head.

At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Taggart's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  Taggart's trainer is advising how he could stop so many clean shots getting through.

Mortimer lands a right hook, right uppercut and a right hook to his opponents body.  Mortimer ties up his opponent.  Taggart pushes his forearm into Mortimer's face.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Taggart to stop fouling.

Mortimer lands a right uppercut to the head, a right uppercut to the body and a left uppercut to the body.  Taggart wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Mortimer dabs at his face checking for damage.

Mortimer is on target with a left uppercut to Taggart's body.  Mortimer clinches his opponent.  Mortimer throws a hook within the clinch but hits his opponent behind the head. The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Mortimer about fouling.
