Montenegro Merino vs Fresco Segovia

Boxing Daily Report from the Brodie Promotions promoted show at Asuncion Caballero, Asuncion,  taking place on 29/09/2042:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Paraguay-Asuncion Featherweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Montenegro Merino (24(1) - 0) who hails from Asuncion, Paraguay and Fresco Segovia(1(1) - 0) from Asuncion, Paraguay.  Both Merino and Segovia weighed in at 126 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Rodrigo Gordillo, and the three ringside judges are Juan Lainez, Senon Chino and Joaquin Rivero.  

Round 1: 

Segovia digs in a right hook to Merino's body.  
Segovia closes the distance and drives a left hook into his opponents body.  
Merino is looking to keep his distance and lands an overhand right.

Segovia cuts off the ring, trapping Merino in the red corner.  Segovia lands a left hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  Merino quickly recovers.

Segovia thinks he can end the show early....he's looking to put Merino away.  Segovia lands a left hook, left uppercut and a left hook to his opponents body.  He then lands a left uppercut, right hook and a left uppercut to his opponents body, AND DOWN GOES MERINO!  He is back up on his feet at 4.  It looks like Merino has now recovered from that earlier bodyshot.

Segovia walks Merino into the corner.  Segovia lands a left uppercut to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  He then lands a left uppercut followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.  
Segovia lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.  Segovia attempts to land a right hook, but Merino parries the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Segovia drives a stinging right hook into Merino's body.  
Segovia quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Merino lands two left hooks to the body, and one to the head.  
Segovia slams a nasty right uppercut into Merino's body.  IT LOOKS LIKE MERINO WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  Merino recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Merino lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  
Segovia lands consecutive right uppercuts to his opponents body.  
Segovia crashes a mean left hook to his opponents body.  IT LOOKS LIKE MERINO WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  Merino almost instantly recovers. 
Segovia digs in a sharp right hook to his opponents body.  Segovia holds on to his opponent.  Segovia is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref breaks Segovia's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Segovia lands a right hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Merino's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.

Segovia is really starting to turn up the heat!  He senses a stoppage here.  Segovia crashes a VICIOUS right uppercut to his opponents ribcage.  MERINO HAS BEEN KNOCKED DOWN!  He is back up on his feet at 6.  
Segovia crashes a nasty right hook to his opponents ribcage.  MERINO HAS BEEN KNOCKED DOWN!  He manages to get up at 5.  It looks like Merino has now recovered from that earlier bodyshot.  
Merino pivots to the left of his opponent.  Merino throws a left hook, but Segovia holds on to his opponent.  Segovia is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Segovia about fouling.  
Segovia lands a left hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.  Segovia holds on to his opponent.  Segovia is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref breaks Segovia's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Segovia lands a right hook to the body, a left hook to the head and a right hook to the head.  
Segovia walks Merino down, trapping him on the ropes.  Segovia lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head, AND STUNS HIS OPPONENT!  Merino quickly recovers. 
Segovia digs in a right hook to Merino's body.  Merino wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Segovia dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Merino finds the target with a jab.  
Segovia gets on the inside.  Merino pivots to the left of his opponent.  Segovia crashes a mean right hook to Merino's body.  MERINO WAS STUNNED BY THAT SHOT!  Merino recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Merino is looking to keep his distance and finds the target with a jab.  
Segovia closes the distance and lands a right uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  
Merino hits home with a right uppercut.  
Segovia lands a left uppercut to the body, a left uppercut to the head and a right hook to the head.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  
Merino now seems to have his senses back.  
Segovia pivots to the left of his opponent and lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  
Segovia is looking to close the distance.  Segovia is really starting to turn up the heat!  He senses a stoppage here.  Segovia lands a right uppercut to the head followed by a left hook to the body, AND DROPS MERINO!  The ref immediately waves off the fight...he's seen enough!  The fight has been stopped!  The winner by TKO is Segovia!
