Rex McNiff vs Owen Newall

Boxing Daily Report from the Plunder Boxing promoted show at CFE Arena, Orlando,  taking place on 31/12/2042:

Clearly Plunder Boxing have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Rex McNiff (7(2) - 0) who hails from Boston, USA and Owen Newall(2 - 2 - 2) from Nashville, USA.  Both McNiff and Newall weighed in at 147 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Onofre Villagomez, and the three ringside judges are Ian Mortland, Rob Quigg and Inigo Poyner.  

Round 1: 

McNiff feints a left, and then connects with a cross.  
McNiff advances into close range.  McNiff sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  McNiff is on target with a right hook.  McNiff holds on to his opponent.  McNiff throws a hook within the clinch but hits his opponent behind the head. 
Newall steps away from his opponent and finds the target with a jab.  
Newall steps to the outside.  McNiff lands two jabs followed by a cross to his opponents head.  
McNiff closes the distance and lands a right hook to the head followed by a left uppercut to the body.  
Newall steps away from his opponent.  McNiff lands a stiff jab.  
McNiff is looking to close the distance and drives a solid right hook into his opponents body.  McNiff clinches his opponent.  McNiff is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
McNiff forces Newall to back into the corner.  McNiff is on target with a left hook.

McNiff advances into close range and drives a firm left hook into his opponents ribs.  
McNiff gets on the inside and drives a left hook into Newall's body.  
McNiff lands with a stinging jab.  
Newall manouvers his opponent into a corner.  McNiff digs in a left hook to his opponents body.  
Newall pivots to the side of his opponent.  Newall throws a short cross to the body, but lands low!  The ref stops the action and gives McNiff time to recover.  
McNiff closes the distance and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  McNiff holds on to his opponent.  McNiff leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Newall tries to step out of his opponents range.  McNiff feints a cross, fooling Newall into throwing a right hook counter.  McNiff springs the trap and counters with  a right uppercut.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Newall's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.

McNiff drives a right uppercut into his opponents body.  
McNiff digs in a left hook to his opponents liver.  
McNiff is on target with a firm right hook to Newall's body.  
McNiff pivots to the side of his opponent and lands a left hook to the body followed by a right uppercut to the head.

Some sustained pressure from McNiff could be enough to finish Newall!  McNiff lands a left uppercut to the head followed by a left hook to the body, KNOCKING NEWALL DOWN!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 4.  It looks like Newall has now recovered from that earlier bodyshot.  
McNiff tries to land a left hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a cross.  
McNiff walks Newall into a neutral corner.  McNiff drives a right hook into his opponents body.
