Brett Rukutai vs Vincent Callison

Boxing Daily Report from the FightArama promoted show at YMCA Stadium, Hamilton,  taking place on 14/02/2043:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Brett Rukutai (10(2) - 0) who hails from Auckland, New Zealand and Vincent Callison(9 - 7(2) - 1) from North Shore, New Zealand.  Rukutai weighed in at 234 pounds and 14 ounces, while Callison weighed in at 232 pounds and 15 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Joe Catanach, and the three ringside judges are Sam Shirah, George Irihapete and Leo Touch.  

Round 1:

Callison steps away from his opponent.  Rukutai hits home with a cross.  
Rukutai lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  He follows up the attack and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  Rukutai holds on to his opponent.  Rukutai leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Rukutai quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Rukutai is on target with a solid right hook to his opponents body.  Rukutai holds on to his opponent.  Rukutai leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Rukutai lands a left hook.  
Rukutai advances into close range and is on target with a left hook.  
Rukutai is looking to close the distance.  Rukutai sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Callison tries to land a right uppercut, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a stinging right uppercut.

Callison tries to land a cross, but Rukutai slips the shot and counters with a stinging right hook.

At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Callison's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Callison's trainer is telling his fighter to increase his workrate.

Rukutai finds the target with a jab.  
Rukutai steps inside and lands a right hook to the body, a left uppercut to the head and a left hook to the body.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  Callison recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Rukutai gets on the inside.  Callison throws a left uppercut, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Rukutai lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Rukutai lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  Rukutai clinches his opponent.  Rukutai uses his free hand to throw a body hook, but it lands on Callison's kidney. The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Rukutai about fouling.  
Rukutai pivots from in front of his opponent and lands a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
Rukutai attempts to land a left hook, but Callison parries the shot and counters with a cross.  
Rukutai connects with a sharp left hook.  
Rukutai digs in a stinging left uppercut to Callison's body.  
Callison switches the action to the outside.  Rukutai is on target with a solid overhand right.  
Rukutai lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  Rukutai holds on to his opponent.  Rukutai hits his opponent with a kidney shot within the clinch. The ref breaks Rukutai's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  Rukutai throws a right hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Rukutai lands a left uppercut to the head, a right hook to the body and a right uppercut to the body, AND DOWN GOES CALLISON!  He manages to get up at 6.  Callison now seems to have recovered from the bodyshot.  
Rukutai lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Rukutai steps inside and lands a left uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  
Rukutai lands a right hook to the head followed by a left uppercut to the body.  
Rukutai lands a right uppercut to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
Rukutai lands a cross followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Rukutai pivots to the left of his opponent.  Rukutai connects with a firm left hook.  Rukutai holds on to his opponent.  Rukutai is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref breaks Rukutai's hold and signals for the fight to continue.

Rukutai forces Callison to retreat into a corner.  Rukutai lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  
Rukutai quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and drives a right hook into his opponents ribs.

Callison tries to keep the action at long range.  Rukutai feints a cross, and then connects with a nasty cross.  CALLISON WAS STUNNED BY THAT SHOT!
