Jack Bird vs Mason Baute

Boxing Daily Report from the North Star Boxing promoted show at Bell Centre, Montreal,  taking place on 16/01/2044:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  This is a final eliminator for the Canada Light Heavyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Jack Bird (13(9) - 1(1)) who hails from Calgary, Canada and Mason Baute(35 - 12(1) - 2 - 1(NC)) from Gaineau, Canada.  Both Bird and Baute weighed in at 175 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Henry Popkin, and the three ringside judges are Carvell Brame, James Mabon and Sid Leys.  

Round 1: 

Baute lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Baute attempts to land a jab, but Bird slips the shot and counters with a sharp cross.

Bird tries to step out of his opponents range and connects with a spiteful cross.  BAUTE IS HURT!  Baute quickly recovers. 
Baute is looking to close the distance.  Bird pivots to the side of his opponent.  Baute drives a left hook into his opponents body.  Bird ties up his opponent.  Bird is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Bird about fouling.
