Glynn Gilkeson vs Amer Akhter

Boxing Daily Report from the HONEYPUNCH promoted show at The Queens Club, London,  taking place on 30/01/2044:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Sky Sports, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Glynn Gilkeson (16(10) - 1) who hails from Leeds, UK and Amer Akhter(4 - 6(1)) from Sana'a, Yemen.  Gilkeson weighed in at 160 pounds, while Akhter weighed in at 159 pounds and 11 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Richie Sheenan, and the three ringside judges are Jim McCombie, Jordan Weale and Justin Kania.  

Round 1: 

Akhter manouvers Gilkeson onto the ropes.  Akhter feints a cross, and then digs in a left hook to Gilkeson's body.  
Akhter attempts to land a right uppercut, but Gilkeson sidesteps and counters with a firm right hook.

Gilkeson is looking to keep the action on the outside and lands a firm cross to his opponents body.

Akhter steps inside and cuts off the ring, trapping Gilkeson on the ropes.  Gilkeson is on target with a left hook to his opponents body.  
Gilkeson connects with a firm left uppercut.  
Akhter pivots to the side of his opponent.  Gilkeson lands a cross followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Akhter gets on the inside and digs in a right hook to his opponents ribs.

Akhter could be stopped here, if Gilkeson can find the right shot!  Gilkeson lands a right hook, cross and a right uppercut to his opponents head, AND SENDS AKHTER SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  He is back up on his feet at 5.  Akhter now seems to have got his legs back.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Gilkeson's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  Akhter's trainer is advising how he could be more accurate.  Akhter's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.

Akhter tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Gilkeson's kidney. The referee separates the two fighters and warns Akhter.

Akhter advances into close range.  Gilkeson is on target with a solid right hook to his opponents body.  
Gilkeson steps away from his opponent.  Akhter attempts to land a cross, but Gilkeson dodges the shot and counters with a left hook to Akhter's body.

Gilkeson tries to step out of his opponents range and lands a FIERCE cross.  AKHTER IS SENT SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  He is back up on his feet at 6.

Akhter forces Gilkeson to retreat into a neutral corner.  Akhter drives a right hook into Gilkeson's ribcage.  
Gilkeson lands a right uppercut to the body followed by two straights to the head.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  Akhter recovers before his opponent can take advantage.

Gilkeson is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Akhter throws a cross, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a right hook to Akhter's body.
