Corey Pennie vs Kian Mortimer

Boxing Daily Report from the Gold Coast Boxing promoted show at Carrara Stadium, Gold Coast,  taking place on 19/03/2044:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Corey Pennie (3(1) - 2) who hails from North Shore, New Zealand and Kian Mortimer(5 - 3 - 1) from Melbourne, Australia.  Both Pennie and Mortimer weighed in at 112 pounds.  
The referee tonight is John Taggart, and the three ringside judges are Jordan Traill, Paul Phaup and Bruce Kay.  

Round 1: 

Pennie steps to the outside and is on target with a cross.  
Pennie lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Mortimer attempts to land a jab, but Pennie slips the shot and counters with a solid left hook.

As they grapple, Mortimer pushes his forearm into Pennie's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Mortimer.  
Mortimer forces Pennie to back into the ropes.  Mortimer pivots to the left of his opponent.  Pennie lands a left hook to the body followed by a jab to the head.  
Mortimer gets on the inside.  Mortimer quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Pennie drives a left hook into Mortimer's liver.  
Mortimer tries to land a right uppercut, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a FIERCE left uppercut.  MORTIMER IS HURT!  Mortimer recovers before his opponent can take advantage.
