Gilbert Birnbaum vs Adalwen Abel

Boxing Daily Report from the Yrgendwer promoted show at Heidelberg Gauerke, Heidelberg,  taking place on 14/07/2044:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Germany Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on SPORT1, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Gilbert Birnbaum (33(20) - 18(17) - 1) who hails from Heidelberg, Germany and Adalwen Abel(14 - 7(1) - 5) from Berlin, Germany.  Both Birnbaum and Abel weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Ring Delzer, and the three ringside judges are Steiner Kalkbrenner, Lothair Manhardt and Konni Geil.  

Round 1: 

Birnbaum advances into close range.  Birnbaum quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Birnbaum lands a right hook to the body, a left hook to the body and a left hook to the head.  Birnbaum ties up his opponent.  Birnbaum is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref separates the two fighters.

Birnbaum steps back and leans on the ropes with his guard up.  Abel is whaling away with hooks, but Birnbaum keeps his defence tight.  
Birnbaum closes the distance and lands a left hook to the head, a left uppercut to the body and a right hook to the head.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  
Some sustained pressure from Birnbaum could be enough to finish Abel!  Birnbaum lands a left hook followed by  two right uppercuts to his opponents body, AND SENDS ABEL TO THE CANVAS!  He beats the count, getting up at 4.  It looks like Abel has now recovered from that earlier bodyshot.  
Birnbaum gets on the inside.  Abel sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Abel tries to land a left uppercut, but Birnbaum blocks the shot and counters with a cross.  
Abel sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Birnbaum hits the target with a stiff jab.  
Birnbaum advances into close range and lands three consecutive right hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Birnbaum lands a right hook, left uppercut and a left hook to his opponents head.

Birnbaum steps inside and is on target with a firm left hook to Abel's ribs.

At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Abel's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.  Abel's trainer is advising how he could improve his defence.

Birnbaum SLAMS a nasty left hook into his opponents face.  IT LOOKS LIKE ABEL WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  Abel quickly recovers. 
Birnbaum tries to land a left hook, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Birnbaum lands a ramrod jab.  
Birnbaum advances into close range and connects with a stinging left uppercut.  
Birnbaum is on target with a solid left hook.  
Birnbaum connects with a left hook.  
Birnbaum lands a left hook.  
Birnbaum closes the distance and drives a firm left hook into his opponents body.  
Birnbaum tries to keep the action at long range and lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Birnbaum gets on the inside.  Abel sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Birnbaum hits home with a right hook.  
Birnbaum lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  He follows up the attack and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  Abel almost instantly recovers. 
Birnbaum advances into close range and lands a left uppercut, right uppercut and a left hook to his opponents body, AND KNOCKS ABEL DOWN!  He manages to get up at 4.  Birnbaum ties up his opponent.  Birnbaum leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. Birnbaum throws a hook within the clinch but hits his opponent behind the head. The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Birnbaum about fouling.

Birnbaum attempts to land a right hook, but Abel parries the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Abel quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Birnbaum lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head, AND DROPS ABEL TO THE CANVAS!  He is unable to get up before the count reaches 10!  The winner by KO is Birnbaum!
