Quico Paula vs Sancho Merenda

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Brazil-Ceara promoted show at Fortaleza Lage, Fortaleza,  taking place on 23/07/2044:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a mandatory fight for the Brazil-Ceara Middleweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on TV Esporte Interativo, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Quico Paula (6(6) - 0) who hails from Fortaleza, Brazil and Sancho Merenda(13 - 8 - 2) from Fortaleza, Brazil.  Paula weighed in at 160 pounds, while Merenda weighed in at 159 pounds And 14 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Vegas Martha, and the three ringside judges are Dario Paulos, Ximen Souva and Nemesio Lizardo.  

Round 1: 

Paula is looking to close the distance and lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Paula steps inside.  Merenda attempts to land a left hook, but Paula blocks the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Paula is on target with a left hook to Merenda's body.  Paula holds on to his opponent.  Paula is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref breaks Paula's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Paula lands a left hook to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  Paula clinches his opponent.  Paula uses his free hand to throw a body hook, but it lands on Merenda's kidney. 
Paula lands a left uppercut followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body, AND MERENDA IS KNOCKED DOWN!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 4.  Paula ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Paula pushes his forearm into Merenda's face.  The ref separates the two fighters.  
Paula senses his opponent is hurt.  He is looking to stop Merenda and just needs the right shot.  Paula lands a right hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.  He continues the combination and lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents body, AND MERENDA IS DOWN!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 6.  Merenda now seems to have recovered from the bodyshot.  
Paula advances into close range.  Merenda throws a left hook, but Paula ties up his opponent.  Paula is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Paula.  
Paula gets on the inside and lands a stinging left hook.  
Paula digs in a stinging right hook to his opponents ribs.  
Paula gets on the inside and lands three consecutive left hooks to his opponents ribs.  Paula ties up his opponent.  Merenda leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. Paula uses his free hand to throw a body hook, but it lands on Merenda's kidney. 
Paula sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Merenda attempts to land a left hook, but Paula parries the shot and counters with a left hook to his opponents liver.  
Paula steps inside and lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Paula forces Merenda to retreat into a corner.  Paula lands a left uppercut to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
Merenda tries to land a left uppercut, but Paula sidesteps and counters with a firm cross.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Merenda's trainer is advising how he could stop so many clean shots getting through.

Merenda finds the target with a jab.  
Paula steps inside and lands a left hook to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  Paula clinches his opponent.  Paula tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Merenda behind the head. 
Paula lowers his guard, attempting to draw a lead.  Merenda tries to land a right hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a stinging right uppercut.  
Paula finds the target with a jab.  
Merenda pivots from in front of his opponent.  Paula crashes a spiteful right hook to his opponents body.  MERENDA WAS STUNNED BY THAT SHOT!  
Paula manouvers Merenda into the red corner.  Paula sees his opponent is hurt.  He's looking for the finish!  Paula lands a left hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body, AND SENDS MERENDA SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  He manages to get up at 5.  
It looks like Merenda has now recovered from that earlier bodyshot.  
Paula lands a right hook, right uppercut and a left uppercut to his opponents head.  
Paula lands a left uppercut to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
Paula connects with a firm left hook.  
Paula digs in a right hook to his opponents ribs.  
Paula pivots to the right of his opponent and lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  Merenda recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Paula lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs, AND SENDS MERENDA SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  He is back up on his feet at 5.  
Paula walks Merenda down, trapping him in the corner.  Paula senses a stoppage victory - he just needs the right shot.  Paula lands a left uppercut to the head followed by a left hook to the body, AND MERENDA IS KNOCKED DOWN!  The ref waves off the fight.  He does not believe Merenda can continue!  The fight has been stopped!  The winner by TKO is Paula!
