Carlos Verano vs Reyes Rubi

Boxing Daily Report from the Atsu Promotions promoted show at Santo Domingo Oeste Calleja, Santo Domingo Oeste,  taking place on 25/07/2044:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a final eliminator for the Dominican Republic-Santo Domingo Featherweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Carlos Verano (16(10) - 2(1) - 1 - 1(NC)) who hails from Santo Domingo Oeste, Dominican Republic and Reyes Rubi(8 - 13(2) - 3) from Santo Domingo Oeste, Dominican Republic.  Both Verano and Rubi weighed in at 126 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Diego Rodrigo, and the three ringside judges are Vicente Saldivar, Juan Arguijo and Xaverius Bras.  

Round 1: 

Verano is looking to close the distance and drives a right hook into his opponents body.  Verano clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Verano pushes his forearm into Rubi's face.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Verano to stop fouling.  
Rubi throws a left hook, but Verano holds on to his opponent.  Verano leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref breaks Verano's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Verano drives a left hook into Rubi's liver.  
Verano sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Rubi attempts to land a right uppercut, but Verano blocks the shot and counters with a cross.  
Verano goes for the bodyshot, but lands south of the border!  The ref stops the action and gives Rubi time to recover.  
Verano gets on the inside and digs in a left hook to his opponents body.  
Verano steps inside and digs in a solid right uppercut to Rubi's body.  
Verano lands a right uppercut followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Rubi is looking to keep his distance.  Verano strikes his opponents body with a sharp cross.  
Rubi lands a jab.  
Verano lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Verano quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  As Rubi tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Verano dabs at his face checking for damage.

Rubi throws a jab, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a firm left hook.  
Verano steps inside.  Verano sidesteps to the left of his opponent and drives a firm left hook into Rubi's liver.  
Verano drives a right hook into his opponents ribs.  
Rubi pivots from in front of his opponent and is on target with a cross.  
Verano closes the distance.  Verano pivots from in front of his opponent.  Verano is on target with a firm right hook to Rubi's body.  Verano holds on to his opponent.  Verano is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref breaks Verano's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  Verano tries to land a left hook, but Rubi blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.

Verano walks his opponent down, trapping him in a neutral corner.  Verano lands a left uppercut to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  Verano clinches his opponent.  The ref breaks Verano's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Rubi attempts to land a left hook, but Verano blocks the shot and counters with a solid left hook.  
Verano drives a right uppercut into his opponents ribcage.  
Rubi pivots to the right of his opponent.  Verano is on target with a firm left hook to his opponents liver.  
Verano finds the target with a jab.  
Verano advances into close range and lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents body, KNOCKING RUBI DOWN!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 6.  Rubi almost instantly recovers. 
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Rubi's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.  Rubi's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  Rubi's trainer is telling his fighter to tighten his defence.

Round 2: 

Verano lands a right uppercut to the body, a right hook to the head and a right hook to the body.  
Verano lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Verano manouvers his opponent into the corner.  Verano lands a left hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  
Verano knows Rubi is hurt...he is putting the pressure on now, looking for the stoppage.  Verano is on target with a weighty left hook to his opponents ribs.  RUBI HAS BEEN KNOCKED DOWN!  He manages to get up at 5.  
Verano lands a cross followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  He continues the combination and lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs, AND KNOCKS RUBI DOWN!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 4.  
Verano lands a right hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.  He follows up the attack and lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs, AND DROPS RUBI!  He is back up on his feet at 5.  Rubi now seems to have recovered from the bodyshot.  
Verano cuts off the ring, trapping Rubi on the ropes.  Verano pivots to the right of his opponent and lands a right uppercut to the head, a right hook to the head and a right uppercut to the body.  
Verano is on target with a left hook to his opponents liver.  
Verano lands a left hook.  
Rubi steps away from his opponent.  Verano lands a cross.  
Verano gets on the inside and drives a left hook into his opponents body.  Verano clinches his opponent.  Verano is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. Verano tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Rubi behind the head. 
Verano lands a right uppercut followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.  He continues the combination and lands a right uppercut to the body followed by a right hook to the head, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  
Rubi steps away from his opponent.  Some sustained pressure from Verano could be enough to finish Rubi!  Verano lands a right uppercut followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body, AND KNOCKS RUBI DOWN!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 7.  It looks like Rubi has now recovered from that earlier bodyshot.  
Verano sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Rubi connects with a cross.  
Verano lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Verano is looking to close the distance.  Verano quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and is on target with a stinging left hook.  
Verano drives a left hook into his opponents body.  
Rubi is looking to keep his distance.  Verano lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Verano steps inside and crashes a DESTRUCTIVE right hook to his opponents ribs.  RUBI IS DROPPED TO THE CANVAS!  THE REF IMMEDIATELY WAVES OFF THE FIGHT...HE'S SEEN ENOUGH!  The fight has been stopped!  The winner by TKO is Verano!
