Owen Cherigat vs Montraie Murugi

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Kenya-Kiambu promoted show at Kikuyu Gachu, Kikuyu,  taking place on 01/08/2044:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a final eliminator for the Kenya-Kiambu Super Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Owen Cherigat (9 - 11(1) - 1) who hails from Kikuyu, Kenya and Montraie Murugi(8 - 5 - 2) from Ruiru, Kenya.  Both Cherigat and Murugi weighed in at 140 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Jake Merande, and the three ringside judges are Sam Ngugi, Amon Itote and Azam Taheri.  

Round 1: 

As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Murugi dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Cherigat steps away from his opponent and tries to land a jab, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left hook to Cherigat's ribs.  
Cherigat tries to keep the action at long range.  Cherigat waits at the mid-range with a lowered guard, waiting for his opponent to throw a punch.  Murugi hits home with a cross.  
Cherigat closes the distance.  Cherigat quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and hits home with a left hook.  
Murugi lands a left hook followed by a cross to his opponents head.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Cherigat's trainer is advising how he could be more accurate.  Cherigat's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.

Cherigat feints a jab, but Murugi ignores the feint and is on target with a cross.  
Murugi connects with a cross.  
Murugi attempts to land an uppercut to the solar plexus, but he strays low!  The ref stops the action and gives Cherigat time to recover.  
Murugi throws a right hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Cherigat hits home with a left hook.  
Murugi digs in a right uppercut to his opponents ribs.

Cherigat lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  Murugi holds on to his opponent.  Murugi pushes his forearm into Cherigat's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Murugi about fouling.  
Murugi is on target with a jab.  
Cherigat closes the distance and connects with a left uppercut.  
Murugi hits home with a right uppercut.  
Cherigat manouvers Murugi onto the ropes.  Murugi throws a left hook, but his opponent slips the punch.  Murugi holds on to his opponent.  Cherigat is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Cherigat about fouling.  
At the end of Round 3, lets listen in on the corners...Murugi's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.

That has caused slight swelling  around the left eye.
