Cuba Cruz vs Dave Bothwell

Boxing Daily Report from the Showtime Promotions promoted show at Caesars Palace Pavilion, Las Vegas,  taking place on 30/07/2044:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on ESPN, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Cuba Cruz (16(14) - 1(1)) who hails from Arequipa, Peru and Dave Bothwell(3 - 2(1) - 1) from Long Beach, USA.  Cruz weighed in at 112 pounds, while Bothwell weighed in at 111 pounds and 8 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Dale Cloyd, and the three ringside judges are Edward Almodovar, David Finnie and Danny Doctor.  

Round 1: 

Bothwell throws a left hook, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Cruz quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands a jab to the body followed by a cross to the head.  
Cruz lands a left hook, right uppercut and a left hook to his opponents body.  
Cruz lands a right hook to the head, a left uppercut to the body and a right uppercut to the body.  Cruz holds on to his opponent.  Cruz pushes his forearm into Bothwell's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Cruz.  
Cruz switches the action to the outside and lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Cruz tries to step out of his opponents range and drives a jab into his opponents body.  
Bothwell tries to land a jab, but Cruz dodges the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Bothwell steps inside.  Cruz lands a left hook to the head followed by two right hook's to the body.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  Bothwell recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Bothwell throws a right hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a stinging cross.  
Cruz switches the action to the outside and lands a jab to the body, and then to the head.  He follows up the attack and lands a jab to the head, a jab to the body and a cross to the head.  
Bothwell gets on the inside.  Cruz is on target with a firm left hook to Bothwell's body.  
Bothwell tries to land a cross, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a solid left uppercut.  
Bothwell advances into close range and manages to force Cruz onto the ropes.  Cruz is on target with a left hook.  Cruz clinches his opponent.  Cruz uses his free hand to throw a body hook, but it lands on Bothwell's kidney. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Cruz lands a right hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  He then lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  Bothwell recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Cruz is looking to close the distance and lands a solid left uppercut.  Cruz ties up his opponent.  Cruz leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks Cruz's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Cruz advances into close range and lands a solid left uppercut.  
Cruz steps to the outside and lands a jab followed by a overhand right to his opponents head.  
Cruz lands a cross to the head, a right uppercut to the body and a cross to the head.  
Cruz steps inside and walks his opponent onto the ropes.  Cruz lands a left uppercut followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.  Cruz holds on to his opponent.  Cruz tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Bothwell's kidney. The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Cruz about fouling.  
Bothwell sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Cruz lands a stinging cross.  
Cruz steps to the outside and lands an overhand left followed by a cross to his opponents head, AND BOTHWELL IS DOWN!  He manages to get up at 4.  Bothwell recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Cruz gets on the inside and connects with a solid left hook.  
Cruz lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  Cruz holds on to his opponent.  Cruz leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Cruz switches the action to the outside and lands a jab followed by a overhand left to his opponents head.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Bothwell's trainer is advising how he could be more accurate.  Bothwell's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.

Cruz gets on the inside and is on target with a right hook.  
Cruz steps to the outside.  Cruz sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a cross.  
Cruz gets on the inside and lands a right uppercut to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  
Cruz is looking to keep his distance and lands an overhand right to the head, a cross to the body and a jab to the head.

Cruz lands a jab followed by a left hook to his opponents head, AND SENDS BOTHWELL TO THE CANVAS!  He fails to beat the count!  The winner by KO is Cruz!
