Rodrigo Verdugo vs Mikhail Shatov

Boxing Daily Report from the Ringside Promotions promoted show at Stramler Park, Bakersfield,  taking place on 03/01/2045:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Rodrigo Verdugo (3(1) - 0) who hails from Havana, Cuba and Mikhail Shatov(18 - 13 - 6) from Yekaterinburg, Russia.  Both Verdugo and Shatov weighed in at 130 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Josh Butchart, and the three ringside judges are Cris Garcia, Sam Hasson and John Summerfield.  

Round 1: 

Verdugo feints a jab, and then lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Verdugo lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Shatov tries to land a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a left hook.  
Verdugo is looking to keep his distance and finds the target with a stiff jab.  
Verdugo lands a jab.  
Verdugo finds the target with a jab.  
Verdugo lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Verdugo lands with a hard jab.  
Verdugo lands two consecutive overhand lefts to his opponents head.  
Shatov is looking to close the distance.  Verdugo is on target with a right hook to Shatov's body.  Verdugo clinches his opponent.  Verdugo tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Shatov's kidney. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Verdugo tries to keep the action at long range and is on target with a jab.  
Verdugo is on target with a cross.  
Shatov steps inside.  Verdugo pivots to the left of his opponent and lands a right hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.  
Verdugo steps away from his opponent.  Verdugo feints a left, and then hits home with a solid cross.  
Verdugo lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Verdugo snaps his opponents head back with a hard jab.  
Shatov closes the distance.  Verdugo lands a right uppercut followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  
Shatov cuts off the ring, trapping Verdugo on the ropes.  Verdugo is on target with a right hook.  
Verdugo is looking to keep his distance and lands an overhand left followed by a cross to his opponents head.  
Verdugo lands two straights followed by an overhand left to his opponents head.  
Verdugo feints a left, and then is on target with a jab to his opponents body.  
Shatov is looking to close the distance.  Verdugo pivots from in front of his opponent and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Verdugo tries to step out of his opponents range and lands a jab.  
Shatov closes the distance.  Verdugo lands a right hook to the head, a right hook to the body and a left hook to the body.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Shatov dabs at his face checking for damage.    It looks like the clash of heads has caused some damage to Shatov.  That has caused swelling  around the right eye.  
Verdugo lands a cross to the head, a jab to the body and a jab to the head.  
Verdugo feints a right, and then lands a jab followed by  two straights to his opponents head, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  
Shatov forces Verdugo to back into the ropes.  Verdugo thinks he can end the show early....he's looking to put Shatov away.  Verdugo lands a left hook to the head, a right hook to the body and a left hook to the head.  He continues the combination and lands a left hook to the body, a right uppercut to the head and a left hook to the body.  
Verdugo lands a cross followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head, AND SHATOV IS KNOCKED DOWN!  He is back up on his feet at 4.  Shatov now appears to have recovered from that earlier shot.  
Shatov gets on the inside and throws a right hook, but Verdugo clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Verdugo pushes his forearm into Shatov's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Verdugo about fouling.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Shatov's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Shatov's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  Shatov's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

Round 2: 

Shatov gets on the inside.  Verdugo pivots to the left of his opponent and lands a double left hook to his opponents head, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  Shatov almost instantly gets his legs back. 
Verdugo lands two straights followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Shatov is looking to close the distance.  Verdugo quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and connects with a stinging right hook.  
Verdugo steps away from his opponent and lands an overhand left to the head, a cross to the body and an overhand left to the head.  
Verdugo tries to keep the action at long range and lands an overhand left to the head followed by a cross to the body.  He then lands two jabs followed by an overhand left to his opponents head.  
Verdugo lands a jab to the body, and then to the head.  He continues the combination and lands a jab to the body followed by a overhand left to the head.  
Shatov steps inside.  Verdugo lands a left uppercut to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  Verdugo holds on to his opponent.  Verdugo is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Verdugo switches the action to the outside.  Verdugo feints a right hook, and then lands a jab, overhand right and a cross to his opponents head.  
Verdugo hits home with a firm right hook.  
Verdugo lands a left hook to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  Shatov quickly recovers. 
Shatov advances into close range.  Verdugo lands a right hook.  
Verdugo lands a jab.  
Verdugo lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  He continues the combination and lands a double jab to his opponents head.

Shatov advances into close range.  Verdugo is looking to put the pressure on now...he knows a few clean shots could mean an early night.  Verdugo EXPLODES a mean left uppercut into his opponents face.  SHATOV IS DOWN!  HE IS STILL STRUGGLING TO HIS FEET AS THE COUNT REACHES 10!  The winner by KO is Verdugo!
