Xabat Melero vs James Fairbairn

Boxing Daily Report from the North Star Boxing promoted show at Auditorio Plaza Condesa, Mexico City,  taking place on 14/01/2045:

Clearly North Star Boxing have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Xabat Melero (4(3) - 0) who hails from Tlaquepaque, Mexico and James Fairbairn(2 - 0) from Memphis, USA.  Melero weighed in at 114 pounds and 15 ounces, while Fairbairn weighed in at 115 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Montana Villasana, and the three ringside judges are Angel Salamanca, Urvano Palomo and Alejandro Marmol.  

Round 1: 

Melero advances into close range.  Fairbairn quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Melero drives a right hook into his opponents body.  
As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Melero has taken some damage from that accidental headbutt.  That has caused slight swelling  around the left eye.  
Melero sidesteps to the right of his opponent and hits home with a firm left hook.  
Melero digs in a right hook to Fairbairn's body.  
Melero is looking to close the distance.  Melero quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and drives a firm left hook into his opponents body.  
Fairbairn tries to land a left hook, but Melero blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Melero manages to force Fairbairn onto the ropes.  Melero lands a right uppercut to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
Fairbairn attempts to land a left uppercut, but Melero blocks the shot and counters with a stinging right uppercut.  
Melero switches the action to the outside and lands an overhand left followed by a overhand right to his opponents head.

Fairbairn walks his opponent down, trapping him on the ropes.  Fairbairn waits at the mid-range with a lowered guard, waiting for his opponent to throw a punch.  Melero lands a jab to the body, a jab to the head and a cross to the head.  
Melero steps inside and drives a solid right hook into Fairbairn's body.  
Melero lands a right hook, left hook and a right hook to his opponents head.  
Melero connects with a cross.  
Melero closes the distance and lands a left hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.  
Melero drives a left hook into Fairbairn's body.  
Melero lands a left hook to the body, a cross to the head and a jab to the head.  Melero attempts to land a jab, but Fairbairn parries the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Melero is looking to close the distance.  Fairbairn pivots to the right of his opponent.  Melero connects with a stinging left uppercut.

Melero tries to step out of his opponents range and lands a double jab to his opponents head.  He follows up the attack and lands an overhand right followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Melero closes the distance and walks Fairbairn down, trapping him on the ropes.  Melero sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Melero wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Fairbairn dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Melero lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Melero slams a big left uppercut into Fairbairn's liver.  FAIRBAIRN IS HURT!  Fairbairn recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Melero is looking to close the distance and lands a left uppercut to the head followed by a left hook to the body, AND SENDS FAIRBAIRN SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  He is back up on his feet at 4.  
Melero lands a left uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  He then lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.

Melero tries to step out of his opponents range and lands a cross followed by  two jabs to his opponents head.  
Melero lands a left uppercut to the head followed by a left hook to the body, AND FAIRBAIRN IS KNOCKED DOWN!  He beats the count, getting up at 4.

Fairbairn throws an uppercut to the body, but lands well below the belt!  The ref ignores Melero's complaints and signals for the action to continue.  
Melero digs in a solid right hook to Fairbairn's body.  Melero clinches his opponent.  Melero is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref breaks Melero's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Melero connects with a left uppercut.  
Melero digs in a left hook to his opponents body.  
Fairbairn switches the action to the outside.  Melero lands a jab, overhand right and a cross to his opponents head.  
Melero finds the target with a jab.  
Fairbairn is looking to keep his distance.  Melero sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Fairbairn attempts to land a jab, but Melero sidesteps and counters with a solid left uppercut.  
Fairbairn lands a left hook followed by a cross to his opponents head.  Fairbairn attempts to land a cross, but Melero sidesteps and counters with a right hook.  
Melero closes the distance and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.

Fairbairn leans on his opponent using all his weight. As they grapple, Fairbairn pushes his forearm into Melero's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Fairbairn.
