Daniel MacIver vs Santiago Balan

Boxing Daily Report from the PP Promotions promoted show at Our Ladys Hall, Dublin,  taking place on 11/03/2045:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Daniel MacIver (4(3) - 0) who hails from Tallaght, Ireland and Santiago Balan(10 - 7(2) - 7) from Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain.  Both MacIver and Balan weighed in at 112 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Steven Stewart, and the three ringside judges are Eoghan Markey, Shamus Quirke and Roy Clery.  

Round 1: 

MacIver lands a firm right hook.  MacIver ties up his opponent.  MacIver is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. Balan tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits MacIver behind the head. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
MacIver lands a left hook to the head followed by a left uppercut to the body.  
MacIver closes the distance and lands a right hook to the head followed by a right uppercut to the body, AND DOWN GOES BALAN!  He beats the count, getting up at 5.  
MacIver drives a left uppercut into his opponents body.  
MacIver throws a right hook, but is unable to get through his opponents guard.  MacIver clinches his opponent.  MacIver pushes his forearm into Balan's face.  The ref breaks MacIver's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
MacIver closes the distance and is on target with a right hook to his opponents ribcage.  
MacIver sidesteps to the right of his opponent and is on target with a right hook.  
MacIver digs in a sharp right hook to his opponents body.  
MacIver lands a left uppercut to the body, and then to the head.  
MacIver lands a left hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  MacIver holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, MacIver pushes his forearm into Balan's face.  The referee warns MacIver and breaks the clinch.  
The right shot from MacIver could be enough to force the stoppage!  MacIver lands a left hook to the head, a right uppercut to the head and a left hook to the body, AND BALAN IS KNOCKED DOWN!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 4.  
MacIver gets on the inside.  MacIver pivots from in front of his opponent and lands a right uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  He then lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  It looks like Balan has now recovered from that earlier bodyshot.  
MacIver lands two right hooks to the body, and one to the head.  
MacIver manouvers Balan onto the ropes.  MacIver lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  MacIver attempts to land a right hook, but Balan slips the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
MacIver lands a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  He then lands a left hook to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  
MacIver gets on the inside and connects with a right hook.  MacIver holds on to his opponent.  MacIver leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. MacIver tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Balan's kidney. MacIver uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits Balan behind the head. The ref separates the two fighters.  
MacIver sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a left uppercut to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  
MacIver quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands a left hook followed by  two right hooks to his opponents head.  
MacIver is on target with a left uppercut.  
MacIver hits home with a right hook.  
MacIver gets on the inside and lands a left hook to the head, a left uppercut to the body and a right hook to the head.  
MacIver quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Balan connects with a cross.  
MacIver lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Balan's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.  Balan's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  Balan's trainer is advising how he could improve his defence.
