Paul Gittings vs Charles McAfee

Boxing Daily Report from the Jaromir Dobroniecki promoted show at City Academy Centre, Bristol,  taking place on 07/08/2045:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the British-Southern England Super Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Paul Gittings (8(1) - 1) who hails from Colchester, UK and Charles McAfee(7 - 16(5) - 5) from London, UK.  Both Gittings and McAfee weighed in at 140 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Edwyn Reece, and the three ringside judges are John Vasil, Bruce Milne and Martin McQuary.  

Round 1: 

McAfee tries to step out of his opponents range.  Gittings feints a cross, fooling McAfee into launching a left uppercut counter.  Gittings is waiting for the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Gittings gets on the inside and connects with a left hook.  Gittings clinches his opponent.  Gittings pushes his forearm into McAfee's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Gittings about fouling.  
McAfee is looking to keep his distance.  Gittings sidesteps to the left of his opponent and is on target with a jab.  
Gittings steps inside.  McAfee pivots to the right of his opponent.  McAfee throws a left hook, but Gittings holds on to his opponent.  Gittings is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Gittings.  
Gittings walks his opponent down, trapping him in the blue corner.  McAfee throws a right uppercut, but Gittings ties up his opponent.  Gittings throws a hook within the clinch but hits his opponent behind the head. The referee separates the two fighters and warns Gittings.  
Gittings lands a left hook.  Gittings clinches his opponent.  Gittings leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref breaks Gittings's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
McAfee switches the action to the outside.  Gittings lands an overhand right followed by a cross to his opponents head.  
Gittings closes the distance and tries to land a left hook, but McAfee blocks the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Gittings steps inside and lands a left uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Gittings lands a left hook to the body, a left uppercut to the head and a left hook to the head.  Gittings ties up his opponent.  Gittings leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref separates the two fighters.  
McAfee steps to the outside.  Gittings is on target with a cross.  
Gittings lands with a spiteful jab.  
Gittings closes the distance and lands two left hooks to the body, and one to the head.  Gittings ties up his opponent.  Gittings is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
McAfee attempts to land a left hook, but Gittings blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.

Gittings manouvers McAfee onto the ropes.  Gittings digs in a solid right hook to his opponents ribcage.  
Gittings lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Gittings lands a right hook followed by  two left hooks to his opponents head.  
Gittings throws a right uppercut, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a left hook to Gittings's liver.  
Gittings is on target with a right hook.  Gittings ties up his opponent.  Gittings is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Gittings tries to land a left uppercut, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a right hook.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...McAfee's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  McAfee's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  McAfee's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

McAfee has taken some damage there.  That has caused slight swelling  around the right eye.
