Owen Jones vs Rob Connolly

Boxing Daily Report from the PP Promotions promoted show at Symphony Hall, Birmingham,  taking place on 29/09/2045:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Owen Jones (4(4) - 0) who hails from Manchester, UK and Rob Connolly(8 - 6(1) - 1) from London, UK.  Jones weighed in at 118 pounds, while Connolly weighed in at 117 pounds and 10 ounces.  
The referee tonight is John Jones, and the three ringside judges are Brian Hall, Roger Tinkler and Tony Fidler.  

Round 1: 

Jones lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Jones lands a jab followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.  
Jones advances into close range and throws a left hook, but his opponent avoids the shot.  Jones ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Jones pushes his forearm into Connolly's face.  The ref breaks Jones's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Jones tries to land a jab, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Jones advances into close range.  Jones quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and drives a solid right hook into Connolly's ribcage.  
Connolly throws a left hook, but Jones clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Jones pushes his forearm into Connolly's face.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Connolly steps away from his opponent.  Jones lands an overhand left followed by a overhand right to his opponents head.  He follows up the attack and lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Jones advances into close range and walks his opponent down, trapping him in a neutral corner.  Jones lands a left uppercut to the body, and then to the head.  Jones ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Jones pushes his forearm into Connolly's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Jones about fouling.  
Connolly hits home with a right hook.  
Jones lands a left hook, right hook and a left hook to his opponents head.  Jones holds on to his opponent.  Jones leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. Jones tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Connolly behind the head. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Connolly tries to step out of his opponents range.  Jones finds the target with a jab.  
Jones lands a cross, jab and a left hook to his opponents head.  
Jones advances into close range and lands two consecutive left uppercuts to his opponents head.  He then lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  Jones holds on to his opponent.  Jones pushes his forearm into Connolly's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Jones.  
Jones lands a left hook to the body followed by a left uppercut to the head.  
Jones hits home with a firm left hook.  
Jones advances into close range and throws a right hook, but his opponent avoids the shot.  Jones clinches his opponent.  Jones leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref breaks Jones's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Jones lands a right hook, left hook and a right hook to his opponents head.  
Jones hits home with a ramrod jab.  
Connolly walks his opponent onto the ropes.  Connolly connects with a right hook.  
Jones lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Jones connects with a stinging cross.  
Jones lands a left hook to the body followed by a cross to the head.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Connolly's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  Connolly's trainer is advising how he could stop so many clean shots getting through.

Jones walks his opponent into the corner.  Jones is looking to put the pressure on now...he knows a few clean shots could mean an early night.
