Jay Boakye vs Simba Gumede

Boxing Daily Report from the Gold Coast Boxing promoted show at Bellville Stadium, Cape Town,  taking place on 17/03/2046:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  On the line tonight is the African Light Flyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on M-Net, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Jay Bone Crusher Boakye (22(20) - 2(2) - 1) who hails from Takoradi, Ghana and Simba Gumede(30(5) - 1(1)) from Soweto, South Africa.  Both Boakye and Gumede weighed in at 108 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Madisha Mini, and the three ringside judges are Xhosas Serero, Musa Zwane and Useni Mfeketho.  

Round 1: 

Gumede hits home with a stinging overhand right.  Gumede throws a jab, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a sharp cross.  
Gumede steps inside.  Boakye lands a right hook followed by  two left hooks to his opponents body.  
Boakye digs in a sharp right hook to his opponents ribs.  
Boakye steps to the outside and hits the target with a solid jab.  
Gumede gets on the inside.  Boakye tries to land a right hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Gumede forces Boakye to back into the ropes.  Boakye lands a solid right uppercut.  
Boakye is looking to keep the action on the outside and is on target with a cross.  
Boakye is on target with a stiff jab.  Boakye attempts to land an overhand left, but Gumede dodges the shot and counters with a left hook to Boakye's body.  
Boakye lands a jab.  
Gumede is looking to close the distance.  Gumede sidesteps to the left of his opponent and connects with a left hook.  
Gumede switches the action to the outside and lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Gumede tries to land a jab, but Boakye slips the shot and counters with a stinging cross.

Gumede quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Gumede hits home with a firm left hook.  Gumede throws a left uppercut, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a solid right uppercut.  
Gumede hits home with an overhand right.  Gumede tries to land an overhand right, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a cross.  
Boakye tries to keep the action at long range and is on target with a cross.  
Gumede closes the distance.  Boakye is on target with a right uppercut to Gumede's body.  
Boakye is looking to keep the action on the outside and lands three consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Gumede closes the distance and lands a left hook to the head followed by a right uppercut to the body.  
Boakye steps away from his opponent and lands an overhand left followed by a jab to his opponents head.  He then lands an overhand left followed by a cross to his opponents head, AND STUNS HIS OPPONENT!  Gumede quickly recovers.

Boakye gets on the inside.  Boakye connects with a stinging left uppercut.  Boakye attempts to land an uppercut to the solar plexus, but he strays low!  The ref ignores Gumede's complaints and signals for the action to continue.  
Boakye steps to the outside and lands with a hard jab.  
Boakye lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Boakye lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Boakye hits home with a cross.  
Boakye lands an overhand left followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Boakye throws a cross, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a cross.  
Boakye connects with a sharp cross.  
Gumede gets on the inside and tries to land a right hook, but Boakye sidesteps and counters with a left uppercut.  
Gumede closes the distance and manouvers Boakye onto the ropes.  Gumede pivots to the right of his opponent.  Boakye is on target with a sharp left hook to his opponents body.  
Boakye is on target with a right hook to Gumede's ribcage.  
Gumede is looking to keep the action on the outside and lands with a stinging jab.  
Gumede throws a left hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a firm cross.  
Boakye steps away from his opponent and lands a straight 1 - 2.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  
Gumede could be stopped here, if Boakye can find the right shot!  Boakye lands a left hook to the head followed by a right uppercut to the body.  He continues the combination and lands a left uppercut to the head, a right hook to the head and a left hook to the body, AND DOWN GOES GUMEDE!  He is back up on his feet at 5.  Gumede now seems to have his senses back.  
Boakye is on target with a nasty cross.  IT LOOKS LIKE GUMEDE WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  Gumede recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Boakye sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a sharp jab.  
Gumede advances into close range and connects with a left hook.  
Gumede tries to land a jab, but Boakye blocks the shot and counters with a spiteful cross.  DOWN GOES GUMEDE!  He beats the count, getting up at 6.  
Boakye is on target with a jab.  
Gumede cuts off the ring, trapping Boakye on the ropes.  Boakye lands a jab to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  
At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...Gumede's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.
