Gig Escovedo vs Gabriel Carreon

Boxing Daily Report from the Atsu Promotions promoted show at Santo Domingo Oeste Montealeg, Santo Domingo Oeste,  taking place on 23/03/2046:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Dominican Republic-Santo Domingo Cruiserweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Gig Escovedo (21 - 16(2) - 4) who hails from Santo Domingo Oeste, Dominican Republic and Gabriel Carreon(19 - 20(1) - 2) from Santo Domingo Oeste, Dominican Republic.  Escovedo weighed in at 199 pounds and 9 ounces, while Carreon weighed in at 200 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Joaquin Onate, and the three ringside judges are Carlos Ruedas, Carlos Carreno and Juan Arguijo.  

Round 1: 

Escovedo switches the action to the outside and hits home with a cross.  Escovedo attempts to land a cross, but Carreon slips the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Carreon is looking to close the distance.  Escovedo pivots to the right of his opponent.  Escovedo attempts to land a left hook, but Carreon parries the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Carreon forces Escovedo to retreat into the corner.  Escovedo finds the target with a jab.

Escovedo switches the action to the outside.  Escovedo sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Escovedo throws a short cross to the body, but lands low!  The ref ignores Carreon's complaints and signals for the action to continue.  
Escovedo steps away from his opponent.  Carreon feints a jab, tricking Escovedo into throwing a left uppercut counter.  Carreon springs the trap, countering with  a left uppercut.

The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Escovedo dabs at his face checking for damage.    That accidental headbutt has resulted in some damage to Escovedo.  That has caused minor damage to the nose.
