Ben Mathison vs Mel Buckley

Boxing Daily Report from the AI USA-Virginia promoted show at Virginia Beach McAffee, Virginia Beach,  taking place on 15/02/2022:

Clearly AI USA-Virginia have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a final eliminator for the USA-South Atlantic Light Heavyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Ben Mathison (6 - 4 - 1) who hails from Atlanta, USA and Mel Buckley(5 - 0) from Virginia Beach, USA.  Mathison weighed in at 174 pounds and 5 ounces, while Buckley weighed in at 175 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Cole Scott, and the three ringside judges are Hugh Wallach, Dan Whalen and Ewan Farris.  

Round 1: 

Buckley closes the distance and drives a left hook into Mathison's ribs.  
Buckley feints a left hook, and then drives a right uppercut into his opponents body.  
Mathison tries to land a left hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a right hook.  
Buckley finds the target with a jab.  
Buckley pivots from in front of his opponent.  Mathison connects with a right hook.  
Buckley throws an uppercut to the body, but lands well below the belt!  The ref ignores Mathison's complaints and signals for the action to continue.  
Mathison is looking to keep his distance.  Buckley throws a cross, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a cross.  
Buckley walks Mathison down, trapping him in the corner.  Buckley lands a right uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Buckley advances into close range and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Mathison throws an uppercut to the body, but lands well below the belt!  The ref stops the action and gives Buckley time to recover.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Mathison's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Mathison's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.
