Joel Smailes vs John Waldie

Boxing Daily Report from the AI New Zealand-Auckland promoted show at ABA Stadium, Auckland,  taking place on 15/12/2022:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a mandatory fight for the Oceania Welterweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Prime, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Joel Smailes (8 - 1 - 1) who hails from Brisbane, Australia and John Waldie(13 - 1) from Auckland, New Zealand.  Smailes weighed in at 146 pounds and 14 ounces, while Waldie weighed in at 147 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Clinton Martie, and the three ringside judges are Opi Ngaikiha, Kyle Stine and Robert Haturini.
