Mike Kinyonga vs Connor Oduya

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Kenya-Kiambu promoted show at Kikuyu Samara, Kikuyu,  taking place on 03/01/2023:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  On the line tonight is the Kenya Super Featherweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Mike Kinyonga (8(3) - 0) who hails from Ruiru, Kenya and Connor Oduya(8 - 1 - 1) from Nairobi, Kenya.  Both Kinyonga and Oduya weighed in at 130 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Nick Toweett, and the three ringside judges are Kadeem Misoi, Malcolm Atwoli and Noah Odoyo.  

Round 1: 

Kinyonga advances into close range.  Oduya throws a right hook, but Kinyonga holds on to his opponent.  Oduya is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee warns Oduya and breaks the clinch.  
Oduya throws a right hook, but Kinyonga clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Kinyonga pushes his forearm into Oduya's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Kinyonga.  
Kinyonga pivots to the left of his opponent.  Oduya is on target with a left hook to his opponents ribs.  
Kinyonga steps inside and throws a left hook, but his opponent avoids the shot.  Kinyonga ties up his opponent.  Kinyonga leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Kinyonga pivots to the right of his opponent and lands two left hooks to the body, and one to the head.  
Kinyonga is on target with a solid left hook.  Kinyonga clinches his opponent.  Kinyonga is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref breaks Kinyonga's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Kinyonga lands a stinging right uppercut.  
Kinyonga lands a right uppercut to the body, a left hook to the head and a cross to the head.  
Oduya hits home with a cross.  
Oduya throws a left hook, but Kinyonga holds on to his opponent.  Kinyonga hits his opponent with a kidney shot within the clinch. The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Kinyonga about fouling.  
Oduya connects with a cross.  
Kinyonga closes the distance.  Oduya throws a left hook, but Kinyonga ties up his opponent.  Kinyonga leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Oduya closes the distance.  Kinyonga is on target with a HUGE right hook.  ODUYA IS HURT!  Kinyonga clinches his opponent.  Kinyonga uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits Oduya behind the head. 
Some sustained pressure from Kinyonga could be enough to finish Oduya!  Kinyonga lands a left uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  He then lands a right hook followed by a cross to his opponents head, DROPPING ODUYA TO THE CANVAS!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 7.  Oduya now appears to have recovered from that earlier shot.  
Kinyonga lands a left hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  Kinyonga tries to land a jab, but Oduya sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut.  
Kinyonga sees his opponent is hurt.  He's looking for the finish!  Kinyonga lands a left hook to the body, a right uppercut to the head and a right hook to the body.  He continues the combination and lands a left hook to the body, a cross to the head and a left hook to the head.  It looks like Oduya has now recovered from that earlier bodyshot.  
Kinyonga advances into close range.  Kinyonga pivots to the left of his opponent and lands a left hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.  
Kinyonga lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
Oduya throws a right uppercut, but Kinyonga clinches his opponent.  Kinyonga uses his free hand to throw a body hook, but it lands on Oduya's kidney. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Kinyonga is on target with a left hook to his opponents liver.  
Kinyonga lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  He follows up the attack and lands a left hook to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  
Kinyonga advances into close range and SLAMS a big left uppercut into his opponents face.  IT LOOKS LIKE ODUYA WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  Kinyonga tries to land a left hook, but Oduya dodges the shot and counters with a cross.  Oduya recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Kinyonga connects with a FEROCIOUS cross.  ODUYA IS SENT SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  HE FAILS TO BEAT THE COUNT!  The winner by KO is Kinyonga!
