Nori Kinoshita vs Yuichi Kikuchi

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Japan-Hiroshima promoted show at Fukuyama Namba, Fukuyama,  taking place on 03/03/2023:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  On the line tonight is the Japan-Tokyo Super Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Nori Kinoshita (8 - 4 - 2) who hails from Tokyo, Japan and Yuichi Kikuchi(2 - 4 - 2) from Tokyo, Japan.  Kinoshita weighed in at 139 pounds and 13 ounces, while Kikuchi weighed in at 140 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Kazuki Ishibashi, and the three ringside judges are Fumio Takahashi, Yoshi Igarashi and Jun Shiro.  

Round 1: 

Kikuchi steps inside and throws a left hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a cross.  
Kinoshita is on target with an overhand left.  
Kikuchi gets on the inside and manages to force Kinoshita into the corner.  Kikuchi attempts to land a left hook, but Kinoshita blocks the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Kinoshita is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Kikuchi sidesteps to the right of his opponent and hits home with a cross.  
Kikuchi closes the distance.  Kinoshita lands a right hook.  
Kinoshita throws an uppercut to the body, but lands well below the belt!  The ref stops the action and gives Kikuchi time to recover.  
Kinoshita is looking to keep his distance and finds the target with a jab.  
Kikuchi closes the distance and is on target with a left hook.  
Kinoshita steps to the outside.  Kikuchi throws an overhand right, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a right uppercut.

The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Kikuchi has come off worse after that clash of heads.  That has caused slight swelling  around the left eye.  
Kinoshita switches the action to the outside and hits home with a cross.
