Lavaughn Shanungu vs Mykelti Mbao

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Zambia-Lusaka promoted show at Antwan Lunguzi Gym, Lusaka,  taking place on 03/03/2023:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a final eliminator for the Zambia Super Flyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on ZNBC, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Lavaughn Shanungu (5 - 4 - 3) who hails from Ndola, Zambia and Mykelti Mbao(7 - 5) from Lusaka, Zambia.  Shanungu weighed in at 114 pounds and 12 ounces, while Mbao weighed in at 114 pounds and 9 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Ben Chiputa, and the three ringside judges are Nwa Hamabilo, Elliot Hajamba and Luister Sibanda.  

Round 1: 

Shanungu feints a jab, and then throws a right hook, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a cross.

The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Mbao has been damaged by that accidental headbutt.  That has caused slight swelling  around the right eye.
