Yoshi Shimizu vs Shinji Yokota

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Japan-Aichi promoted show at Shinji Sugimoto Gym, Nagoya,  taking place on 22/04/2023:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a final eliminator for the Japan-Aichi Featherweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Yoshi Shimizu (11 - 1 - 2) who hails from Okazaki, Japan and Shinji Yokota(10 - 3) from Nagoya, Japan.  Shimizu weighed in at 126 pounds, while Yokota weighed in at 125 pounds And 4 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Keiichi Kobayashi, and the three ringside judges are Kazuki Yamamoto, Yuji Shiroma and Kazuki Yamamoto.  

Round 1: 

Yokota gets on the inside.  Yokota sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a left hook to the head followed by a right uppercut to the body.  
Yokota advances into close range and drives a right hook into Shimizu's body.  
Yokota attempts to land a left hook, but Shimizu slips the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Yokota lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Yokota lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Shimizu is looking to keep the action on the outside and tries to land a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut.

Yokota pivots from in front of his opponent.  Shimizu throws a left hook, but Yokota ties up his opponent.  Yokota is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. As they grapple, Yokota pushes his forearm into Shimizu's face.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.

Shimizu is looking to keep his distance.  Yokota feints a cross, and then throws a jab, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a cross.  
Yokota sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Yokota throws a right hook, but his opponent slips the shot.  Yokota holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, Yokota pushes his forearm into Shimizu's face.  The ref breaks Yokota's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Shimizu attempts to land a left hook, but Yokota slips the shot and counters with a right uppercut.
