Joe Tait vs Callum McVicar

Boxing Daily Report from the AI UK-Central England promoted show at Midland Hotel, Manchester,  taking place on 15/05/2023:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a mandatory fight for the British-Central England Super Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Eurosport UK, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Joe Tait (9 - 3 - 2) who hails from Liverpool, UK and Callum McVicar(8 - 2) from Derby, UK.  Both Tait and McVicar weighed in at 140 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Harvey McIver, and the three ringside judges are Owen Wallace, John McQuay and Robert Goff.  

Round 1: 

Tait sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  McVicar is on target with a left hook.

McVicar gets on the inside.  McVicar quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  McVicar digs in a left hook to Tait's body.  McVicar ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, McVicar pushes his forearm into Tait's face.  The referee warns McVicar and breaks the clinch.

As McVicar tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Tait dabs at his face checking for damage.

The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  McVicar has come off worse after that clash of heads.  That has caused slight swelling  around the right eye.
