Ian Herriott vs Mark Hilley

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Australia-Queensland promoted show at Malcolm Duffy Gym, Sunshine Coast,  taking place on 14/07/2023:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a final eliminator for the Australia-Queensland Super Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Ian Herriott (1 - 6 - 4) who hails from Sunshine Coast, Australia and Mark Hilley(9(1) - 1) from Townsville, Australia.  Both Herriott and Hilley weighed in at 140 pounds.  
The referee tonight is John Taggart, and the three ringside judges are Ian Corrie, Paul Phaup and Mark Elgin.  

Round 1: 

Hilley lands a left uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  He continues the combination and lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
Hilley is looking to close the distance.  Herriott quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Hilley throws a right hook, but his opponent slips the punch.  Hilley ties up his opponent.  Hilley leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Hilley steps to the outside and strikes his opponents body with a jab.  
Herriott advances into close range.  Hilley sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Hilley digs in a left hook to Herriott's body.  Hilley clinches his opponent.  Hilley is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Hilley lands a left hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  Hilley ties up his opponent.  Hilley is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Hilley lands two right hooks followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Hilley sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands two right hooks to the body, and one to the head.  
Hilley cuts off the ring, trapping Herriott in the corner.  Hilley lands a right uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  Hilley holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, Hilley pushes his forearm into Herriott's face.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Hilley finds the target with a jab.  
Herriott tries to land a jab, but Hilley slips the shot and counters with a sharp left uppercut.  
Hilley lands a left uppercut followed by a cross to his opponents head.  
Hilley is looking to close the distance and lands a left uppercut to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  
Hilley is on target with a right uppercut to Herriott's body.  
Hilley is on target with a jab.  
Hilley is on target with a right uppercut.  
Hilley steps inside and lands a right uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  
Hilley lands a firm right uppercut.  
Hilley tries to keep the action at long range and is on target with a cross.  
Hilley steps inside.  Hilley sidesteps to the left of his opponent and hits home with a firm right hook.  
Hilley feints a left hook, and then lands a right hook followed by a cross to his opponents head.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Herriott's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.

Hilley steps to the outside.  Herriott sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Hilley is on target with a jab.  
Hilley hits home with a left hook.  
Hilley closes the distance and lands a firm left uppercut.  
Hilley throws a right uppercut, but is off-target.  Hilley ties up his opponent.  Hilley is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Hilley.  
Hilley forces Herriott to back into the corner.  Hilley lands a double right hook to his opponents head.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Herriott dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Hilley lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  Hilley holds on to his opponent.  Hilley leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Herriott hits home with a left hook.  
At the end of Round 2, lets listen in on the corners...Herriott's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Herriott's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

Hilley throws a hook within the clinch but hits his opponent behind the head. Hilley hits his opponent with a kidney shot within the clinch. 
Hilley quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Hilley gets on the inside and lands a sharp left hook.  
Hilley advances into close range and lands two left hooks to the body, and one to the head.  
Hilley drives a right hook into his opponents ribcage.  
Hilley lands a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
Hilley gets on the inside and digs in a left hook to his opponents body.

Herriott steps away from his opponent and finds the target with a jab.  
Herriott pivots to the side of his opponent.  Hilley lands a left hook followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Hilley lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  He continues the combination and lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  Herriott quickly recovers. 
Hilley lands a right hook followed by  two left hooks to his opponents head, AND HERRIOTT IS DOWN!  He makes it to one knee, but is unable to rise any further as the ref counts 10!  The winner by KO is Hilley!
