Juan Varas vs Esteban Saldivar

Boxing Daily Report from the Siampangila Promotions promoted show at Barcelona Pedroza, Barcelona,  taking place on 30/09/2023:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a final eliminator for the Spain Super Flyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Marca TV, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Juan Varas (8 - 4 - 4) who hails from Seville, Spain and Esteban Saldivar(5 - 1) from Badalona, Spain.  Both Varas and Saldivar weighed in at 115 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Leonel Nicodemus, and the three ringside judges are Juan Fregoso, Marjun Barro and Santiago Cardinal.  

Round 1: 

Saldivar advances into close range.  Varas pivots to the side of his opponent.  Varas lands a right hook.  Saldivar ties up his opponent.  Saldivar pushes his forearm into Varas's face.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Varas is on target with a cross.  
Varas switches the action to the outside.  Saldivar quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and finds the target with a jab.  
Saldivar is looking to close the distance.  Varas pivots to the side of his opponent.  Varas is on target with a left hook to his opponents liver.  Saldivar clinches his opponent.  Saldivar is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref separates the two fighters.  
Saldivar lands a jab.  
Saldivar tries to land a right hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Varas throws a right hook, but Saldivar holds on to his opponent.  Saldivar leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. Varas tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Saldivar's kidney. 
Saldivar is looking to close the distance and connects with a left hook.  
Saldivar finds the target with a jab.  
Saldivar closes the distance and manages to force Varas into the corner.  Saldivar connects with a right hook.  
Saldivar walks Varas down, trapping him in the corner.  Saldivar is on target with a right hook.  
Saldivar hits home with a left hook.  Saldivar clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Varas pushes his forearm into Saldivar's face.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Saldivar gets on the inside.  Saldivar sidesteps to the left of his opponent and digs in a solid left hook to his opponents liver.  
Saldivar manages to force Varas into a neutral corner.  Saldivar lands a right hook to the head followed by a right uppercut to the body.  Varas wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Saldivar dabs at his face checking for damage.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Varas's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Varas's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.  Varas's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.
